Principal's Message
ELK Family,
Leadership is a valuable skill to learn and a skill that is very important for ALL students as they take the next step in their life. As many students know, we look to our Seniors as leaders on the campus. Our 9th-11th grade students look to them for direction and guidance. I want to take this moment to thank them for making BHS a special place. During SUCCESS+ this week, I witnessed Seniors working with underclassmen in preparation for upcoming EOC retests. Wow! What a moving experience. This exhibits what kind of leadership we have on the campus. Helping one another to be successful is a culture that is alive and real in the ELK Nation!!! If we can spread and build this culture across the campus, into the community, and into our society, then we can MOVE MOUNTAINS!!!!
Thank you Seniors for being GREAT!!!!
Go ELKS!!!

Freshman Parents
Remind your students that it is important for them to continue to do their best in all courses. GPA and class rank include all grades in all high school courses. Students need to work hard so that they achieve their dreams!
Senior Parents
Be sure your students are filling out college applications, scholarships and their FAFSA forms. Deadlines are approaching for those top schools. Please have your students talk with their counselor or Mrs. Christian-Shafer if they have questions.
All BHS Parents
Remember to take time and eat at least a couple of meals a week together as a family. Have a spot where all phones/tablets are away from the table so that everyone has a chance to share about their day. Research tells us that a family that can eat at least one meal together will be that much closer as a family. Our weeks can get really busy; slow down and spend time with one another enjoying a great meal.

AVID Staff Spotlight
Rockford Rudd teaches Audio Visual Production for grades 9th -12th. He attended college at the University of Texas at Arlington and Howard Payne University, finishing with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Mr. Rudd’s Major was in Communications and his Minors were in Music and Drama. In college, he was involved in theater, choir, volleyball, soccer, the school newspaper, his fraternity, and was the class president. One of his favorite college memories was when he had the opportunity to play in some pro beach volleyball tournaments. When asked, “What skills did you learn in college that you have been able to apply to your personal and professional life?” Mr. Rudd said, “Most important, I think, was just the habits of working hard, studying, and finishing what you start”. When asked, “What advice would you offer to students who are looking to pursue an education after high school?” he simply replied, “Do what you love!”
