5 Event ideas for Collage students
Event Ideas
Colleges, meetings and presentations are all daily costs for students. With these Instagram-worthy ideas, you ensure that students are warmed up for your event:
1. Hobby workshops. Organize a workshop where students can make decorations for their room themselves, such as plant pots, pillows or frames for photos. Be inspired on Pinterest, Instagram or Etsy for the latest trends.
2. TEDx Talks. Did you know that the iconic TEDx forum for idea exchange started as a campus event in 2009? Now the platform encourages students to set up their own version of the digitally evolved series of lectures. If you record these kinds of lectures on video, you have everything you need for attention on social media (and perhaps your event will be 'viral').
3. Meet the alumni. Let alumni of the course tell about the 'real world'. Then ask not only those who have ended up in fantastic jobs, but also those who do unusual things with their university degrees: founders of start-ups, artists, activists and pioneers for social change. Tip: look for alumni who are active on social media, because they can help you promote your event as influencers.
4. Events in the interest of the community. Millennials are only too happy to show their standards and values online, but are also very interested in visiting live events. Invite them to embody that change. Work together with an organization outside the school or university to promote and organize a meaningful neighbourhood event. For example, organize a large cleaning of the neighbourhood, a reading day for the elderly, or a volunteer day at the food bank.
5. Anti-stress activities. Students are dealing with stress. Organize a meeting that also serves as an improvised wellness day. Invite masseurs, aromatherapy experts and yoga teachers. Many of these professionals can be found in your own student database.
