Robotics (Roncalli Cafeteria)
Roncalli will be offering a one week Robotics Camp for the VEX IQ and VEX VRC categories of competition robots hosted by Mr. Ben Grimes, and several other volunteers, as a way to give grade school and high school students an opportunity to design, build, practice with and program robots to compete in the 2019-20 program! This is a great way to learn the basics of the engineering process which goes into developing a successful robot and get ahead of the game preparing for the early competitions of the new season.
Each grade school sending participants will need to also send their school's robot or robots with the participants to be worked on during the camp. Roncalli will not be providing robots for the participants, but the robots may be stored safely at Roncalli for the duration of the camp.
Camp participants will spend Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday designing and building their robots with competition fields available to practice their driving skills once they have a working design. Thursday will be focused on programming skills, where participants will learn the basics of coding their robot to perform the tasks necessary for the 2019-20 game. Friday will wrap up with completing their robots and perhaps even a mini practice competition among the robots which are ready to go.
