Our focus in reading this week will be on the Iditarod, The Last Great Race. We will spend much of our days learning of the history of this event, as well as reading fiction books related to sled dog races. Be sure to ask your child about the Iditarod this week as they track their Iditarod musher each day in class. Due to the lack of snow and conditions in Alaska, the ceremonial start in Anchorage on Saturday was simply that, ceremonial. The official "restart" of the race began today in Fairbanks.

I wanted to let you know that I'm going to be gone the week of March 16-20 to have a minor medical procedure. My substitute will be Lynn Negaard and she is someone the students know very well.
