HOME OF THE "PROUD PATRIOTS"
The mission of Cedar Grove Elementary is to grow our students into respectful, curious and productive citizens.
PHASE ONE CAFETERIA REDESIGN ALMOST COMPLETE!
Thanks For Helping Us Realize Our Vision!
Planning for our cafeteria beautification project began in 2019. Our cafeterias were chosen as the first spaces in our school to redesign since they are shared by all students. The goal is to redesign each cafeteria to reflect icons and landmarks of the eastern and western parts of our nation. We want to instill a sense of pride in our young "Patriots" and bolster social studies knowledge.
During the 2019-20 school year, students voted on which color blue would don the walls. During the 2020-21 school year, the School Beautification Committee determined which pieces would look best on our walls, and parents and staff members generously donated the art pieces for our project. Referendum work during the summer of 2021 slowed down our progress, but there was an unintended benefit to this delay.
At the start of the 2021-22 school year, we noticed that with students back full time the volume of the cafeterias were much louder than we remembered! We even noticed that some students were having difficulty adjusting to the volume. As a result, the School Beautification Committee decided to integrate into our plans both acoustic tiles on the walls and foam backing on our art, to provide students a more sensory-friendly cafeteria experience. Mr. Baccello, our Head Custodian, has been working hard to install both the acoustic tiles and art pieces in the East and West Cafeterias.
I want to thank the following for their generous donations to our
