Wauwatosa Montessori School
September 3, 2021
It been a great three days having students in the building and getting back into the swing of school! I have been so impressed with all our students and their confidence to walk into the building and get to work right away!
Classrooms have been busy establishing their classroom communities, building relationships, and of course learning! Typically we'd start the year with an all school assembly, however in keeping things safe, this first all school assembly was done via a video recording for all classrooms to watch on Friday. In this video, we reviewed what it means to Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe at school. We also talked about what our goals are for the year, got a pep talk from Kid President, and each student had an opportunity to write or draw their hopes and dreams for this school year. You can view the video here:
A friendly reminder that soft start arrival begins at 8:00am and continues on to 8:20am. If your child arrives after 8:20am, they will need to enter the building through the main office doors, not their designated grade level doors. Additionally, Monday, September 6th is Labor Day so there is No School. Have a safe weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!
Snapshots from the Week!
Slides going over Carline Arrival & Dismissal Procedures, Lunch & Recess Information & More
- Pull forward to the furthest available cone/number. We are hoping that the numbers will be repainted on the new parking lot soon!
- For arrival your child will get out and proceed to their entry door.
- For dismissal students will be called via radio to come out and directed to your car. Please DO NOT get out of your car while in the carline. This creates an unsafe situation and impedes the progress of the carline moving.
- If your child needs assistance getting in/out of car, please walk up to lobby doors to pick up.

NEW: Elementary Band, Choir + Orchestra Instruction
The Wauwatosa School District Elementary Music Department is pleased to provide students the opportunity to participate in band, choir, and orchestra rehearsals while we are in COVID-19 mitigation level 3, using the following precautionary measures:
All students will be spaced six feet apart during rehearsal.
Masks will be used when appropriate.
Orchestra students will always be masked.
Band students will have other mitigation materials to use. Additional information will be provided by your student’s teacher director.
Choir may practice outside while the weather is appropriate. When rehearsing indoors, spaces large enough to accommodate the six foot separation will be used.
Your child’s safety is always our first priority. We also want students to enjoy participating in electives that enrich and broaden their learning opportunities. Your consent to having your child participate in band, choir, and/or orchestra rehearsal, under these guidelines, will also serve as your approval of the guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Music Department liaison Jenny Keats at email@example.com or 414-773-1710.

Secondary Families: Quarantine Protocol for Fully Vaccinated Students
Families of fully vaccinated students will be notified if their child is identified as a COVID-19 close contact; however, the student will not have to quarantine. If your student has been vaccinated against COVID-19, please print out your student’s record from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry or ask their vaccinating provider for a print out of their immunization record and give a copy to your student’s school office. Please note that this only applies to District-sponsored activities including in-person classes, co-curricular activities and Recreation Department programming.
