Christmas II Week of January 5, 2014
Remember the Reason for the Season
Greetings my young people. We've just finished Thanksgiving, Advent, and Kwanza. You have been asked by many persons to remember the reason for the seasons. Thanksgiving, (Advent), Christmas and Kwanza. The three seasons we celebrate are summed up in the acronym, ACTS. Adoration, Confession, Thanks and Supplication. That's is the old preacher's path when praying to God on behalf of others. As young people and especially college students, you should look beyond the worldly attraction to merchandising (don't get me wrong I love Christmas shopping) and find your own spiritual connection and journey to Thanksgiving, Christmas and Kwanza. Engage your own stories and life events that reveal your relationship with God.
Remember, the seasons invoke expectation of a better world. Notice the seasons with the exception of Kwanza are old world, with Kwanza borrowing from the past and looking toward the future. My beloved find your purpose, live it with the belief that God has been, is currently and will be a big part of your life in the future. Adore God, Confess to remain in relationship with God, give Thanks always and don't be afraid to ask (supplicate) God for whatever you desire.
