Helping Libraries in Texas
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is being affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and along the Gulf Coast. ALA is supporting the Texas Library Association (TLA) and Texas State Library as they work with local libraries dealing with storm-related damage.
TLA has posted a list of resources to help assist with recovery from the storm.
- Donate Online to the TLA Disaster Relief Fund
- Purchase TLA Coloring Book benefiting the Disaster Relief Fund
- Apply for Disaster Relief Grant
- Disaster Recovery Resources
ALA also has a list of resources for dealing with natural disasters at Libraries Respond.
Looking to incorporate global themes in your library lessons? If so, check out the wonderful resources available through Carolina Navigators. Carolina Navigators have artifacts from 100 or more countries that are free to use for two weeks. Don't worry about shipping; Carolina Navigators have taken care of that too.
