Each of our GLCs will be recognizing one student who they believe represent the Walnut Way and make a positive impact at Walnut High School. Please congratulate the following students for being selected in the month of October!

CIF Playoff Game at home Tonight | 7:00 pm

Mustangs will play their first CIF game tonight against Santiago High School (Garden Grove) at Ken Gunn Stadium. Walnut is in division 12 in the CIF-SS playoffs and our first home playoff game since 2004. It's the first time Walnut football has played Santiago. The Cavaliers were 8-2 overall this season and second-place finishers in the Garden Grove League.

GIRLS GOLF DIVISION 1 CIF CHAMPS!

Congratulations to our Girls Golf Team! They won the CIF Division 1 Championship on Wednesday. It's their 7th CIF Championship in 10 years.


We are so proud of you, girls! They will now prepare for the individual championship and look to qualify for the Southern California team championship. Way to represent!

Mustangs Shine in Cross Country League Finals

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Cross Country team for earning an outright Hacienda League Championship. The girls went undefeated this year, led behind freshman Kaitlyn Smith. The boys tied for first, with Wilson High School led behind Josh Razo.


Josh Razo and Kaitlyn Smith both earned an individual league championship!


Congratulations, Coach Jerry Knox and all athletes.

CAL POLY PARENT BILINGUAL CONFERENCE

Cal Poly is hosting an online conference Saturday, November 6th, which will include information for prospective college students. They’ll be having workshops on admissions, financial aid, E.O.P., and A.B. 540 for Dreamers. Our Parent Bilingual Conference will be offered in English and Spanish and will include a bilingual student panel. Cal Poly is hosting this event to show parents and students that college is a possibility, not just a dream and that knowledge is the road to success.

SCHOOL LUNCH POLICY

Due to safety concerns, we DO NOT accept student lunches in the office. We understand the importance of student nutrition, but we encourage students to either purchase lunch at school or bring their lunch from home. Food, drinks, or other items are NOT to be passed to students through the fence. This is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.


Please Note: Parents can now access the Food Services Department from our website under the Parents tab. On that page, parents can set up and deposit funds into their student's lunch account for purchasing lunch on campus.

STUDENT CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Students must attend every class, every day, and be on time. In order to receive daily credit, students are to bring all necessary materials to class. Students will not be excused from class to get materials. Homework and class assignments are to be completed on time and to the best of the student’s ability. Only behaviors befitting the learning environment are acceptable. Students are to comply with all reasonable requests of any staff member. Dress code will be enforced.

ATTENDANCE COUNTS!

Please remember that attendance counts, every period, every day. Students will be marked absent if they are not at the beginning of each period to verify their attendance.


All single-period absences will need to be reconciled through the attendance office by the student. If marked absent, students will receive an email from the attendance office notifying them that they have been marked absent. The notification will include the date and period of the absence. The student will need to contact the Attendance Department to make any necessary corrections to their individual period attendance. For full-day absences, a parent/guardian must contact the attendance office by the end of the day.
