Tejeda News
Week of May 11th
Dear Tejeda Timberwolves,
As we wrap up Teacher Appreciation Week, I wanted to take a moment and thank all of you for being your child’s teacher. When you care for a child, you teach them every single day! Whether it is how to tie shoes, brush teeth, be nice to siblings or complete chores, your teachings matter and our children are always watching us. They may not acknowledge all the “lessons” they have learned from parents, but children know those lessons are taught with love. The global pandemic has reinforced the need for loving our families as we all shelter in place with them to keep them safe. We have learned how to navigate without all the busy schedules outside of the home that typically drive us. However, the schedules within our home have intensified by becoming a distance learning co-teacher and maintaining all the traditional roles you play as a parent. I call you a co-teacher because I have no doubt that at home, you are having conversations about subject matter, assisting with research and helping to complete assignments all while maintain your daily duties. Our Tejeda teachers are grateful for your partnership. Additionally, I am so proud of your efforts and thank you for persevering during these challenging times. I miss your children at Tejeda and thank you for being a teacher!
I would be remiss if I let this weekend pass without wishing all our T-wolf Mama's a Happy Mother's Day! I know being a mom is not always easy, but it is most meaningful title in my life. I am certain you feel the same way. I send your families my greatest hope for continued strength and health during these challenging times.
Important Information on Yearbooks:
Due to delays caused by Covid-19, our 2019-2020 Legacy Yearbook will be arriving in June. In order to get them in students’ hands in the safest and most timely manner, we will be hosting a drive-through distribution event June 17th from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and June 18th from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you are unable to pick up your child’s copy at this time, we will hold it for you to pick up once the campus re-opens. We will not be able to ship books.
Limited copies are still available for purchase at jostensyearbooks.com, but purchases will need to be made online before June 5th because we will not be able to handle cash at that time. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Rottman at crottm@neisd.net
Information on Cafeteria Account Refunds:
If you would like to request a cafeteria refund for your student’s account, please call 210-356-9100 on Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All refund checks will be mailed. All positive account balances will roll over to the 2020-21 school year if a refund is not requested. Refunds are not automatically issued for graduating seniors.
NEISD can still process applications for free and reduced price meals even though school is virtual. Approval for free or reduced price meals during the 2019-20 school year will also extend through the first 30 days of the 2020-21 school year. Many families may now qualify and this qualification could help them get discounts on services in the community. If you are interested, you can apply here: https://www.neisd.net/Page/295
