Beach Buddies' Bulletin
February 25-March 1, 2019
Greetings from Kindergarten! Amazing that we have jumped into March already. Here is an update mainly from Ms. Pellegrene with a few additions from Mrs. Z.
Math Workshop
We were strong thinkers in math this week! We learned how to skip count by 2's, make patterns with clapping and snapping, and went to an imaginary 3D shape museum.
Writers' Workshop
In writers' workshop we have been working hard on our "book reviews." We have been picking out our favorite books, stating our opinions, and writing a review on it.
Readers' Workshop
We learned a lot about animal habitats in readers' workshop. We read a book about different habitats and summarized each chapter. Next week, we will be putting our learning to the test as we make posters for different habitats.
Habitat Researching
Polar Bear Facts
We have been reading, writing, and drawing about polar bears this week.
Guest Experts
We were fortunate to have a few expert visits this week. We started with Jack's dad who is an expert at banking/money. Ask your kindergartner about our money counting contests!
Maddie's mom joined us on Friday as an expert on volleyball. We each got to practice hitting and setting. I see many future volleyball players out there!
WOOT WOOT!
Yes, that IS the Championship belt that Ms. Pellegrene is sporting! Our class read the most minutes in the Read-a-Thon last week. YAY! The belt was ours for the week! Thank YOU for your help in tracking your minutes. The Read-a-Thon is now complete. Thank you for supporting AES!
All School Bingo
On Friday we got to play all school BINGO with Mr. Klippenes calling the numbers over the intercom. If we won, we got to RUN IN THE HALL to get our prize at the end of the hallway. Exciting stuff! :) Plus great number practice!
Background Checks and Como ZOo
We are hoping you will be joining us at Como Zoo on May 10. Remember, all volunteers need a simple and quick background check. You can find that paperwork here
https://www.isd876.org/domain/1586 or just stop in the AES office. Thank you!
Oak Hill Volunteers
We are still looking for volunteers to join us for our Pen Pal field trip to Oak Hill on Wednesday, March 27. We would leave AES at 8:30 and return around 2:00. Let me know if you can help us out.
Guest Teacher
Friday afternoon we will have Mrs. Howard as our guest teacher. I will be heading to Rochester for an annual fish fry in memory of my dad. It will also be Ms. Pellegrene's last day. :( Thankfully she will just be going upstairs to 5th grade for 8 weeks so we will get to see her around school. :)
