Convención Hispana 2013

Reporting and Updates for Community Partners

The Hispanic Roundtable proudly presents Convención Hispana 2013

The Hispanic Roundtable convenes the Hispanic community every three years at a community assembly to set the Hispanic agenda, pass resolutions, provide workshops and community resources, and hear a speaker toward the goal of empowering the Hispanic community.

Convención Hispana 2013 was a huge success. There were activities executed well before the event to garner involvement and generate excitement leading up to the big event on October 19. These included a volunteer kick-off event, a free screening of the documentary, Harvest of Empire, and an ethnic and minority leadership reception. On the day of Convención Hispana, participants benefitted from workshops, a health & resource fair, a job fair, education workshops, an immigration forum, and the keynote address delivered by the nationally recognized Mayor of San Antonio, Julian Castro. Nevertheless, we must not lose the momentum; there is still much work to be done in nuestra comunidad.
