This Week in LVUSD
Week of July 20, 2020
Webinar this Wednesday at 3:00 PM
Last Thursday Dr. Stepenosky shared that we have made the difficult decision to start the school year with all students engaged in a virtual learning format. We hope we can allow students to return to campus possibly as soon as after Labor Day. This is an optimistic goal, and it depends on improving public health data.
As we move forward, we need to remain flexible and nimble. Things will change. We will be working hard and communicating frequently in the next five weeks to ensure we have an excellent start to the year. We have learned much about how to effectively provide virtual learning and we will aggressively apply those best practices to ensure learning. We will provide clear and consistent schedules of class time.
We are still asking families to select either the Virtual Academy or the on-campus option through our online form at LVUSDUpdates.org prior to 5:00 pm on Friday, July 24th. Students who are in the Virtual Academy will have a 100% virtual experience for at least a trimester (elementary ) or a semester (secondary).
We have fielded your many questions about the start of the year relating to health/safety, scheduling, and the Virtual Academy. Please join us this Wednesday July 22nd at 3:00 PM at LVUSDUpdates.org where we will provide even more details about next year and answer our Frequently Asked Questions. The webinar will be taped and posted on the site for those who are not able to watch live.
Anti-Racism Resources Now Available
LVUSD strives to provide our students and staff with the appropriate tools to empower greater cultural proficiency. We strive to create an anti-racist culture through examining tenets of social justice, implicit and explicit bias, and blind spots, all on a path of change and growth.

Family Meals Available this Summer
Beginning June 15th and throughout the Summer, meal distribution will occur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm at AE Wright Middle School.
Parents may pick up the meals on behalf of their students; students are not required to be present. When a parent comes for pick up, they may take two days of meals for each student in their family. Please bring a bag or box if possible.
LVUSD Community 360 App Now Available
LVUSD developed a brand new app that is now available through Android and Apple platforms. The app links to free local counseling services so that families have a direct point of contact if they feel the need to talk to a mental health professional. Resources relating to food access, health supports, and updates on changing circumstances will occur through the app and our Website and Social media accounts.
There is a direct link to download the app on the homepage at Community360.me.
