Weekly Reminders
Wk 4 Term 2 - for the Week Commencing 16th May

KIndy Morning Tea
It was lovely to see Mums introducing themselves, having a chat, meeting some of our P&F team and staff. Many thanks to all those who came along and we hope the year ahead will provide you with more opportunities to connect and form some new friendships.

From the Principal
Good afternoon everyone.
We hope you have had a good week and that the weekend offers you and your family some fun and relaxation ahead.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Yesterday we celebrated Mr Munro's BIG birthday. As we all know, Mr Munro is a highly respected, hard working, generous and kind-hearted Assistant Principal, who does so much for our community in many different ways. Yesterday children and staff thanked him and reminded him how special and appreciated he is. On behalf of the whole school community I wish him all the very best for the year ahead.
NAPLAN
Naplan 2022 assessments have now been conducted. Thank you to parents for helping your child to understand that tests are all part of the learning cycle and nothing to stress or worry about. Unfortunately, like all schools across Australia, a number of students were away during testing week due to COVID. For students who are returning to school next week these will be made up throughout the week where possible.
PARENTS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
Parents are reminded that we should only be seeing Kindy and PP parents dropping children to classrooms.
All Year 1-6 parents are reminded to please use the drive through - drop off and pick up. If you need to drop them personally because they are late, or have an appointment, please do this outside the Office area, rather than walking them to the classroom. Office staff will arrange for students to come to the Office if they need to leave early.
Appointments need to be made to speak to the teacher, either by phone or face to face. Parents are reminded that it isn't appropriate to be catching teachers at the classroom door.
COVID
While masks are not compulsory, parents are still asked to maintain social distancing - especially with staff. Thank you.
FLU SEASON
As you may have heard on the media, it is anticipated that this year's flu season is going to be more intense than normal now that borders are open, people are travelling and restrictions have been lifted. You can visit HERE for more information regarding the flu from WA Health.
CAN YOU ASSIST US PLEASE?
Please read the note below that is seeking your possible assistance with:
1. Preparing a Plate of Food for after Father Jean-Noel's father's funeral.
2. Going on a roster to support a family who needs to get their Kindy child to school.
P&F and School Advisory Council
We have now resumed face to face meetings. Many thanks to both the P&F and Advisory Council Members for their generous and ongoing contribution to our community.
RAT TESTS
Please read the letter and information below regarding the distribution of RAT tests to families. Our pallet of tests arrived this afternoon.
All the very best everyone, and may the week ahead be a great one!
Kindest regards
Tania Thuijs

Being of Service in our Community ...
We are seeking parents who might live near, or go past the Ranford Shopping Centre, to consider going on a roster, to give a lift to a pregnant mother and her Kindy child who live very close to this shopping centre. Kindy days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week.
The family are currently ubering it to school each day and the Uber's have been both unreliable and expensive.
If you are interested in helping out we would really love to hear from you. Please give the Office a call on 92569696.
Helping with Catering - next Thursday 19th May
The funeral of Father Jean - Noel's father is on this Thursday the 19th May at 1.00pm in the St Emilie's Church. Some elderly attendees wont be attending the cemetery and so Father would like to be able to offer them some food and a cup of tea after the Mass in the hall.
We are seeking parents who may be able to assist with making a plate of finger food please.
If you are willing to make a plate of food and drop it into the office by lunchtime on Thursday it would be very much appreciated. Please call or email the Office to detail what you will deliver.
We are hoping to receive food such as - sandwiches, party pies, mini quiche, samosas, etc.
If you are also free to assist with serving, please leave your name with the Office.
FREE RAPID ANTIGEN TESTS
The WA Premier Mark McGowan recently announced the State Government’s expansion of its free rapid antigen test (RAT) program, including provision of more than 10 million free RATs to school students to enable families access to RATs so they can test their children, if required.
We will be bagging up the RAT boxes based on the number of children per family on Monday. These will be sealed and labelled with your family name on the bag. At this stage these will be delivered to your car during drive through at the end of the day on either Monday or Tuesday. Kindy and PP families whose child is the eldest will receive their tests at the classroom door as you collect your child.
RATs can be used to test household members who are close contacts or have symptoms, including a fever of more than 37.50C, acute respiratory symptoms (including cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, acute loss of smell or taste) or non-specific symptoms (including fatigue, headache, diarrhoea or nausea/vomiting).
Find out what to do if a household member tests positive for COVID- 19 or is a close contact as part of the testing and isolation process. Check the WA Government website HERE.
A rapid antigen test is a quick home test to check if you have COVID-19 and provides a result within 15 to 30 minutes. Anyone with symptoms should be tested for COVID-19 and if negative, stay home until symptoms clear.
Most RAT kits have a QR code that links to a video that shows how to take the test – whether it is a saliva test or nasal swab. Kits also include guidance on their recommended use.
Check the suitability of the free RATs provided for young children and follow instructions closely. Parents or guardians should perform or supervise RATs on
children.
For more information about COVID-19, go to the HealthyWA website
HERE or call the 13 COVID help line on 13 268 43.

After Assembly Morning Teas
The purpose of these morning tea's is nothing more that an opportunity to gather, to talk, to meet new parents and to support one another.
Mrs Goodes, our School Social Worker, returns next week and she will also be there to say hello and to offer guidance or advice if needed.
Our next morning tea for any interested parents is on Friday 20th May, at approximately 9.15am after the Year One assembly.
All welcome.
While masks are optional, we still encourage parents to social distance where possible.

CLOSE CONTACTS AND SUBSEQUENT COVID CASES IN THE HOME
Where an individual is identified as an asymptomatic close contact (no symptoms) , the close contact is required to adhere to the following requirements for seven days, commencing from the day that the COVID-19 test was taken by the COVID-19 positive person:
• Wear a face mask upon leaving the home.
• Take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for seven days and only exit the home if a negative
result is returned.
• Avoid high-risk settings until the seven-day period has concluded.
Where a subsequent COVID-19 positive case is identified in the home, the person considered an asymptomatic close contact is not required to meet the above criteria, unless the second COVID-19 test was taken after the original seven-day quarantine period.
Please see below scenarios for clarification:
Scenario 1:
• Student A is an asymptomatic close contact, living with a parent who is COVID-19 Positive.
• Student A returns a negative RAT and wears a face mask upon leaving the home.
• On day five, a sibling of Student A returns a positive COVID-19 RAT.
• Student A must complete the additional two days of Rapid Antigen Testing and wear
a mask when leaving the home.
• After this time, Student A is not required to undertake a RAT or wear a face mask, even
with a second COVID-19 positive person in the home.
Scenario 2:
• Student B is an asymptomatic close contact, living with a parent who is COVID-19 Positive.
• Student B returns a negative RAT and wears a face mask upon leaving the home.
• On the eighth day after the first COVID-19 case in the home, a sibling of Student B
returns a positive COVID-19 RAT.
• Student B must complete a further seven days of Rapid Antigen Testing and wear
a mask when leaving the home.
Please note, children under the age of 12 and students in Year 6 or below, are not required to wear a face mask, in accordance with the new Transition Face Covering Directions (No.7). Persons who hold a current mask exception are also exempt from this requirement, even if identified as an asymptomatic close contact.
