A quick note from the principal's desk...
Good Afternoon RPI Families,
This is looking to be a very exciting week at RPI. We are allowing kids to have fun and celebrate Halloween and also having our first ever Makers Day Challenge: The Bucket Tower. Follow our Facebook page and watch for the #RPIMakersDay to appear on other social media outlets. It's going to be a lot of fun. Rocket Virtual families, if you are interested in doing this at home, please email me by replying to this message and I will share the lesson plan with you. The materials needed are really easy and you might have them at home!
If you have an elementary student, you likely got communication this week regarding the switch from report cards for the first marking period to progress reports. We wanted to inform you that RPI will also be moving from Marking Period 1 Report Cards to Progress Reports. We are doing this so that we can focus our energies on the progress your son/daughter has made and continue to work towards the growth they can achieve.
More information will be coming out from each of the teachers related to this and our offering of VIRTUAL CONFERENCES soon. We will be utilizing a website called Calendly. More to come!
Have a great week everybody! Go Rockets!
Mr. Panozzo

The P2 Post
It is purely a coincidence that we are doing our first ever Maker's Day Challenge this week and that our P2 focus is creativity. The goal of Maker's Day will be to challenge kids to think differently, collaborate with peers, fail, try again...to use their creative parts of their brains. To be innovative.
I will simply leave you with this quote from Albert Einstein as it so perfectly fits our goal for the week:
"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."
I hope you take some time to use the Family Resources this week. Information below:

Halloween Guidelines
Please do not send treats or candy to school on this day (or any day).
Future Focused - Virtual Career & College Exploration Series
This series is designed to help students explore and prepare for their future career goals. Our mantra is simple:
“Every student has a career IN them. It is our job to find it WITH them”
The series is created to provide 6-12 grade students a virtual opportunity to be a part of a conversation connecting them to an industry professional, college planning information or career preparation programming. Each conversation will be about 30 minutes and will provide students the opportunity to gain valuable information about a variety of career paths, to explore career preparation options and to learn how to plan for college and their next steps.
Students will have an opportunity to ask their own questions through the Zoom platform’s chat function.
This could not only be a great opportunity for students to engage with employers to hear directly about their future career interests but could be an opportunity for teachers to include in their virtual or hybrid planning. However, conversations will be recorded using “Speaker View” through ZOOM and available on a designated Youtube channel for later viewing.
Registration is now open for the first session! Here is the link: Future FocusSeries

ROCKET VIRTUAL UPDATES…
🚀Curriculum Corner
As we are winding down our 7th week of virtual learning we want to thank you for all of your support with unforeseen obstacles and nuances that went along with being the first group of Rockets to navigate virtual learning. We have profound gratitude for all of the hours and efforts that you have invested in overcoming barriers. We hope you are now in a place where you feel navigating this platform is becoming more comfortable.
Please remember if you have any questions related to the curriculum to contact the Edmentum teacher directly(through the messaging system in Edmentum). Plan for no longer than a 48hr turnaround. If the Edmentum teacher does not get back to you, contact your mentor here at R-P.
🚀Live Information/Question/Answer Meeting
Edmentum will once again be offering a live Q & A via Zoom for any student/parent that would like to join. Information about navigating the site along with curriculum-based information will be provided.
This will take place on Wednesday, November 4th
5th-Grade will be from 6:30 - 7:00 pm -- Click here for the link
6th-Grade will be from 7:00 0 7:30 pm -- Click here for the link
🚀FastBridge Benchmark Assessments
Reminder: Testing window will close this Wednesday, Oct.28th
Here is the link to the parent/student instructions for the benchmark assessments.
The student should have received a separate individualized email with their username and password from their R-P mentor teacher. This is VERY important so please have your student look for this as well. The username/password is case sensitive so pay close attention - your student may need help if they are struggling to log in.
The students will be asked to take aReading, aMath, and mySAEBRS
Access the Fastbridge website at http://app.fastbridge.org
🚀Attendance
It is a requirement from the state level that we have 2-way communication with all of our Rocket Virtual Students.
When you receive your weekly communication from your Rocket Mentor your student or you MUST reply to the mentor that you have received it and/or answer specific questions that they may ask within a google form.
This is how we account for your student “being present”. It is our responsibility to maintain that communication not only for state pupil accounting purposes but also for monitoring the well-being of our Rockets!
