Marysville Message
Friday February 5th, 2021
Dear Marysville Families,
Beginning a new quarter is a time for reflection. There is so much to Celebrate and there is always the opportunity to Elevate. At Marysville we really do believe that we can always do better. Learning is all about growth and forward movement. Our mindful practice helps us to stay present, even in discomfort, with awareness and compassion, so that we can choose positive action.
I start this second semester with incredible gratitude for the strength of our community. I'm thankful for the students (and families) that have shown up everyday for our virtual school. We have many perfect attendees! I'm equally thankful for the students (and families) that have pushed through challenges and have made great improvements in attendance. It takes amazing perseverance to maintain learning virtually and we have been doing it for almost a year!
I know it has been hard and I appreciate all the many ways that families have found to make it work for them. There is no one right way to do this.
I'm optimistic about the direction that we are headed with more in person learning opportunities in the future.
We are in this together and we always get better by holding each other accountable in the effort to create expert learners.
Together We Can!
Please continue to reach out to me with any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Our next Site Council meeting is scheduled for the morning of Friday February ,12th. Let me know if you would like to participate and I will send you the meeting link.
We have many exciting things ahead this month. Check out what is listed below.
In gratitude,
Cathy Murray

Lunar New Year Celebration
We want to acknowledge that this time of year is the time to celebrate Lunar New Year. According to the Lunar Calendar, 2020-the year of the Rat, is almost over.
Maryville school would like to welcome 2021, the year of the Ox with a small event during the meal distribution time next Friday, Feb 12, 2021 (The first day of celebrating Lunar New Year). We want our community to have a Lunar New Year experience.
We will give out the Red Envelopes to everyone who is able to come during that meal distribution time (3:00 - 4:30 pm) regardless of your race, ethnicity, age, or gender. We wish you a year of fulfilling health, happiness, peace, and prosperity.
Happy Lunar New Year! 2021, year of the Ox.

Marysville Successful Schools Survey
Marysville Successful Schools Survey
For Families
It’s been a year unlike any we have experienced before and from the beginning we have been grateful to be in it together with you, our amazing Marysville families. Understanding how you and your students are doing at school is an important part of us being able to do our job well. Each year we look forward to the chance to hear from you about your experiences through the Successful Schools Survey.
What is the survey? The Successful Schools Survey is offered to all families, students and staff as a way to measure how each school is working for different members of it’s community. Families will have the opportunity to give feedback about issues like school fit, school climate, barriers to engagement and school safety. The survey results are completely anonymous.
When do I take the survey? Families can take the survey between February 8th and March 12th.
How do I take the survey?
Go to: surveys.panoramaed.com/portlandor/ppsfamily

MAP Testing Beginning Soon
You will be receiving information from your teacher about the testing dates and times.
On the day of testing, the student schedule may be adjusted to allow plenty of time for the test.
The important thing to remember is that this is not an evaluative test. It will help with school planning and instruction moving forward. Please allow your student to work on the test without help. The computer will adjust to their level.
Contact your teacher if you have any questions.
Ongoing Black History activities
Bring them back to the school and "plant" them on the front lawn if you would like. We are looking forward to the student art supporting Black Lives Matter.
Minecraft Education Edition
Minecraft Education Edition is now being made available to staff and student accounts. It is an allowed install that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on a compatible device. Please locate the Google Play Store app on your ChromeOS device to install. Staff and students will need to use their full email address to log into Minecraft. If you are having login problems, please contact the OTIS Service Desk. OTIS can only provide support for login issues. Any other questions about Minecraft how-to or support should be directed to Microsoft's Minecraft support page.
