Four thousand dead on trail of death to Indian country, including wife of Cherokee Chief
On February 1st, 1839 in Little Rock Arkansas, Quatie Ross ( the wife of Cherokee Chief ) died along the way. Her and her husband were forced to leave their homes, left with only what she can carry. She gave her only blanket to a child during a snowstorm. She died of pneumonia during the night. The other 4,000 died of disease, exposure to cold, malnutrition & accidents.
Trail of Tears
Quatie Ross died and was burned along what has become known as the " Trails of Tears."
