Happy Mother's Day to all of the mom's and caretakers! Have a wonderful weekend!
Water Bottles
I want to thank families who have reached out with questions and feedback regarding yesterday's communication requesting students leave their water bottles and beverages in their lockers.
Some of the feedback was in response to feeling the entire student body is being punished for a few students spraying water at one another. Although I did indicate in yesterday's email this has been an issue, the decision was not based solely on a few students making an unsafe choice to spray water at each other. Individual student behaviors are addressed by staff and administration and disciplinary action is taken as warranted.
Beverages spilling have been an ongoing issue in the halls and classrooms.
This is an opportunity for students to get used to using their lockers and learn to manage their time more efficiently in between classes. Students may even want to consider not carrying their heavy backpacks around and instead keeping them in their locker as well. Our rising 8th graders will have a much bigger building to navigate next year.
I appreciate those of you who have reached out with concerns regarding your individual student's needs.
As a building, we will reevaluate in a few weeks and if needed will make adjustments to requesting students leave their water bottles in their lockers.
