UPDATE TO SCHOOL REOPENING
SORA SWEET READS VIRTUAL LIBRARY
Check out the Sora Sweet Reads Virtual Library! These are ebooks that are always checked in. Log into your Sora account with your AP Google account and then click the book covers to open and check out the books. Sora Sweet Reads ebooks are only available until July 31.

STATE OF THE DISTRICT PRESENTATION
WRITING CONTEST FOR RENSSELAER COUNTY YOUTH
As part of the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office upcoming “Looking Forward…to Change” initiative, the District Attorney’s office is sponsoring a writing contest for youth. The contest is open to Rensselaer County students between the ages of 10-18 years old. Contestants must live and attend school in Rensselaer County and cannot be high school graduates. APCSD, APEF SUPPORT EDUCATION ENRICHMENT GRANTS
The Averill Park Central School District and the Averill Park Education Foundation came together to provide matching funds to support a number of Education Enrichment Grants for the 2020-2021 school year. Read more about the grants and this year's eight award recipients here.
AMS STAFF PARTICIPATE IN RTI INSTITUTE
More than 35 Algonquin Middle School staff participated in the New York State Middle School Response to Intervention Demonstration Project Annual Summer Institute. This year's annual summer institute focused on building social-emotional-behavioral supports for students in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more here.
FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION
Registration for fall sports will begin on Monday, July 27 and go through Sunday, August 9. More information will be released in mid-July. If your child is an Algonquin Middle School student and is planning to go through the Athletic Placement Process to play a high school sport, please send Coach Conroy an email at conroym@apcsd.org to be added to the list.
RETURN YOUR LIBRARY BOOKS
Don't forget to return your library books! Our town libraries have agreed to accept school library books in their book drops this Summer, and you can always return them to the District Office, as well.
CHILDCARE THROUGH THE SUMMER
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently mandated that all school districts in New York State provide childcare through the summer months. Averill Park Central School District will continue to partner with Greenbush Child Caring, Inc. (GCC). For more information, click here.
