Detroit Tigers National Anthem Performance

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Tigers game. The students all did great and performed spectacularly!!!
I am so appreciative of our wonderful staff (Mrs. Burdette, Mrs. Rupp, Mr. Ende), Mr. Couch for towing the trailer, our bus drivers, Mrs. Fitzpatrick, Mr. Fitzpatrick, and Mr. Jolink for helping us underneath the stadium before the game, all the parents who volunteered to help keep an eye on the kids while we were there, and the MASSIVE amount of family and friends who made it to Comerica to cheer us on.
We try hard to provide the students with experiences that they will remember for a long time. I wish that you could have seen their faces right after we got off the field...the joy that the students had made my day!

Festival of the Forks Parade - Saturday, September 16
On Saturday, September 16, the MHS Marching Band will be performing in the Festival of the Forks parade in downtown Albion. This is a required performance.
Buses will leave MHS at 9am. Call time (for those meeting us in Albion) is at 9:30a at the Washington Gardner MS.
Approximate return time to MHS is 11:00a
I will need someone to tow the trailer for this event. If you can do that, please let me know via email (jroot@marshallpublicschools.org)
Pizza Order Form - Marching Band Elementary Tour - Monday, September 18, 2023
On Monday, September 18, the MHS Marching Band and MHS Cheerleaders will be performing at all 4 MPS elementary schools as part of our Homecoming Week celebrations. Band students will be performing in FULL marching uniforms.
As in year's past, we will be offering a pizza lunch for students to purchase if they choose. Cost is $3 for 2 slices of pizza and $6 for 4 slices of pizza. Students who do not order food should plan to bring a lunch with them. All students will need to bring their own drink for lunch.
If your child would like to order pizza, please have them fill out the Google Form below so that we can have an accurate account of who needs food. Pizza orders will be finalized at 12:00p on Thursday, September 14. All monies must be paid by Monday morning, September 18.
Marching Uniform Care
After all performances, marching uniforms should be taken out of the garments bags and hung up (ideally with individual pieces on separate hangers) so that the uniform pieces can breathe.
DO NOT launder any of the marching uniform pieces - all uniform parts are dry clean only.
I would appreciate it if you would take a minute today or tomorrow to ask your child about this.
Lastly, as a reminder, uniforms should NOT stay at the school. They are to be taken home and stored appropriately between use.
Disney Trip Information - IMPORTANT!!!
Chaperones Still Needed!
We are still in need of 3-4 adult chaperones who can come on the trip with us. This is important in terms of keeping the number of students in each group manageable and making sure that we have enough supervision.
While the deadline to register online has passed, PLEASE contact Mr. Root directly (jroot@marshallpublicschools.org) if you are interested in chaperoning.
Disney Fundraising Totals
We will be sending a check to Bob Rogers Travel this week with all fundraising money along with instructions on how much gets applied to each student's account. Click the link below to see how much money will be credited to your child's account. This spreadsheet does NOT include scholarship money from MPS. Students who were awarded Merit or Need-Based scholarships have been given a letter to take home to parents. Scholarship money from MPS will also be included in this fundraising check.
All monies will be credited to your child's BRT account before the September payment is due.
Recommendation to STOP Trip Auto-Pay
If you are currently utilizing autopay through Bob Rodgers for your child's Disney Trip and anticipate receiving fundraising money or scholarships, we encourage you to STOP the autopay at this point.
Bob Rodgers will NOT refund money to families until AFTER the trip is done and the TOTAL trip is paid for fully. This is part of the contract that you signed. As such, it is important that you NOT overpay.
Trip Deadline - Urgent!
There are a number of students who are signed up to go on the Disney trip who are significantly behind on payments. While I will be reaching out to those families privately, please be aware of the following important items regarding payments:
- Please remember that by signing up your child for the trip, you entered into a contractual agreement with Bob Rogers Travel. If you signed your child up for the trip but will not be able to meet your financial obligations, PLEASE contact BRT to remove your child from the trip roster.
- Bob Rogers Travel is ordering park tickets for trip participants on September 15 - anyone who has not paid that amount by September 15 will be dropped from the trip automatically
- Financial assistance IS available - BUT - you MUST contact Mr. Root ASAP!!! We can only assist with approximately 25% of the total cost
- Financial assistance for this trip comes at the END - AFTER you have paid BRT your portion
- Students will NOT be allowed to travel if there is an amount owed - ALL trips must be paid IN FULL by the payment deadline for your child to travel

Concessions Fundraiser - Need student AND parent help!
The MHS Band will be providing concessions at one Varsity football game and one Freshman/JV game. We need 12-15 helpers for each event. The dates are:
- Friday, September 29 - Varsity Football - MHS Band members will be performing and CANNOT work this event - need LOTS of parents for this one
- Thursday, October 19 - Freshman/JV Football
If you'd like to help out, please click on the link below and add your name and email to the Google Spreadsheet. This is a GREAT fundraiser for the band and is pretty fun to work at. Younger helpers are fine as long as a parent is working as well to help supervise.
