Weekly Family Update # 13
November 8, 2020
Principal's Message
Hello Falcon Families,
There is a lot of important information the newsletter this week, but here are some key highlights:
- School pictures are coming this week, the sign up is below.
- There is no school on Wednesday 11/11 in observance in Veteran’s Day.
- The Book Fair continues this week, use the links below to support the library and find some new books.
- Please encourage your student to keep their camera on during instruction in Zoom meetings, our teachers miss seeing those smiling Falcon faces.
- The Falcon Fund Fall Fundraising Campaign kicks off this week. Please help support our Falcon Foundation, they are an incredibly important support system for our students and staff.
- Check out the reopening presentation for more detailed information on our reopening plan and timeline, the short version is we are looking to open for students who opt for on-campus on January 19th in a simultaneous teacher model (one lesson, two environments) with a hybrid schedule where students would be on campus two days a week.
If you have not seen the live forum on Reopening Information, please see the link below. I have posted an FAQ on our website that is also posted below that answers many of the questions that have come up. This week we will submit our plan to the board to open with a simultaneous teaching model on January 19th. This is explained in detail in the reopening presentation, this model means that teachers will be teaching virtual students via Zoom and on-campus students, who will still be on a computer, in the classroom, at the same time. One lesson, two environments. The style of teaching will be a continuation of what is happening right now, meaning that the way teachers are engaging with students will be same, Canvas, Zoom, digital assignments, etc, some students, however, will be in classrooms on-campus while this is happening, while others will be at home. Students who opt to be on-campus will be utilizing a Chromebook to engage in their courses and interact with their virtual peers using Canvas and other digital tools. Students who opt to be on-campus will be on site two days a week and will be interacting with their classes digitally via Zoom just as they are now on the days when they are home.
More details will be included in the newsletter next week after the Board meeting scheduled for 11/12/20. I will also be sending out a message next week to resurvey all families on their choice to remain virtual moving forward or if they want to opt to have their students return to campus. Families have the option to change their mind from their original selection back in July.
I hope you all have enjoyed the change in weather this weekend!!
Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!
Beaming with Falcon Pride,

School Pictures This Week!
Lifetouch will photograph Oak Valley students on November 9th, 10th, 12th and 13th, from 2:00 - 6:00pm in the gym. To minimize the number of students on campus, you must reserve a time to have your student photographed. Click HERE or the image below to access the SignUpGenuis form.
This is the photo that will be in the OVMS 2020-2021 yearbook, so please be sure to reserve a time to bring your student to have their picture taken!
Please also adhere to the following protocols:
- Only students will be allowed to exit vehicles and enter campus, parents must remain in vehicles. Masks must be worn at all times by all students, as well as follow social distancing guidelines. All students will have their temperature taken before entering the gym.
- Please see the attached map to get a better understanding of the route and process.
- One designated entrance and one designated exit will be used to help maintain social distancing and lessen the instances of students closely passing each other.
- Students will be directed to the covered area near the main gate, next to the gym, to begin.
- We will have markers to ensure safe distancing while waiting in line.
- Once students are photographed, we ask that they exit the gym, to their vehicles, as quickly as possible.
- Students will not receive their ID cards at this time.
Please adhere to the time you signed up so that the process is smooth for all of our OVMS families
