Points of Interest:
Reading to your child is one of the best ways to increase their understanding of new vocabulary words, increase comprehension, and increase their love of reading. Once they hear a good book, they will definitely want more! We read to your child several times a day and ask them questions about the story. It is a fun time for us to talk about what surprised us and our favorite parts of the story. At home, please continue to read to them. Here are some examples of good questions you could ask your child.
- What was your favorite part?
- What was your favorite character?
- Where did the story take place? Would you like to visit that place?
- Now you tell me the story in your own words as you look at the pictures.
