We need you! Volunteer as an Educational Surrogate Parent for a student with a disability
There are students with disabilities in our district who very much need an Educational Surrogate Parent. A surrogate parent is an individual who has been appointed to act in the place of a parent in safeguarding a child’s rights in the special education decision-making process. The surrogate parent represents the interests of the child in all areas relating to the exceptional student education process and the provision of a free appropriate public education. A surrogate parent is not someone who takes care of the child (like an adoptive parent or a foster parent) and is not financially responsible for the child. Educational surrogate parents have a very important role. They help the child and the school; they also help their community meet the needs of its students disabilities. The rewards for surrogate parents: the opportunity to share your time, use your skills, build relationships and see the results in your own community and in the life of a child. We will be hosting an online training on December 6, 2022 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (see attached flyer or click here to join). Lisa Bell, Senior Director for Exceptional Student Education St. Johns County School District
Testing Update
Are you aware that you can access your student’s score report on HAC? Beginning with the Fall 2021 FSA ELA Retake and Fall 2021 FSA/NGSSS EOCs test administrations, a PDF of each individual student score report is now linked to the student HAC/eSP account. This will allow parents/guardians and students access to the student score report.
Here are directions for how to access the individual score reports in HAC!
Students/Parents/Guardians will:
- Login to Home Access Center (https://homeaccess.stjohns.k12.fl.us/HomeAccess)
- Navigate to the “Home” screen (1)
- Click on the “Student Attachments” tab (2)
- Click on the attachment link for the applicable test and a PDF of the score report will download
If you are unable to access your child’s report and need a copy, please e-mail Ms. Wilkie.
If your child received a perfect score on the FSA, be on the lookout for your certificate which will be sent home with your student!
In addition, congratulations to the 4 students who received a perfect score on the FAST Progress Monitor #1 in ELA in September!
Way to go, Raiders!
The St. Johns County School District Honor Card program has gone digital! If your child is on the A/B honor roll, you have the opportunity to receive discounts at some very fun and exciting places in St. Johns County. - On your smart phone go to https://myhonorcard.com. The following screen will appear. Place your child’s student ID number and date of birth in the boxes.
A list of participating businesses and their offerings are also on a different tab on the website.

Book Fair Coming Soon!
Dear Parents and Families:
Get Ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from December 5th – December 9th in the media center.
This year, say hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Visit out bookfair website to set up an eWallet. We still accept cash, check, and card as well.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

The countdown to more Bookjoy is on! Catch you at the Fair!
Happy reading!
Math Resources 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade, Algebra Honors
Have you checked out all the amazing resources available through your online math book? It has some AWESOME resources for students and parents! Students can access the site through Clever from the Links for Students on the school website. Then click Math Nation.
Once in Math Nation, you can click the unit and lesson from the menu on the left. Each lesson has various parts including warm-ups, refreshers, guided practice, you try, etc. These align exactly with the student workbooks. When you click on one, it will have the option to watch a video. This is where the magic happens! Students can choose which Math Nation tutor they want to watch explain this section. It says which ones are more in depth and which teach a little faster. Students often end up having a “favorite” Math Nation tutor : ) At the end of each lesson you’ll see that the last section is always “Check Your Understanding.” This is a little quiz that allows students to work through some practice problems for that lesson.
Take advantage of these helpful videos when students need a little extra support at home!
Please note: Geometry Honors students do not have access to Math Nation, but can take advantage of their own resources on their textbook site as well : )
