Principal's Message
Dear Evergreen Elementary Families,
It is beyond wonderful to have our in-person learning students back onto campus! Everyone is so happy and joyful about being back. I am so grateful to everyone for all of their efforts this year... We could not have achieved this feat without the support from our families and staff members.
Families, you are doing an excellent job of doing your Crisis Go Check Ins every morning. We have our systems down and things are working smoothly for check in and pickup. Regarding lanyards... some students are losing them and requesting a new one. We are finding that students usually end up finding their lanyards the next day. Rochelle will reprint QR codes with lanyards on Wednesdays for students that have truly lost them.
With our current setup of distance learners and in-person learners on the AM/PM schedules, this allows flexibility for families. For example, if a student is sick or out of town and can't attend in person, then they can attend school as a distance learner that day. While this affords flexibility, it can be challenging for the student and teacher if this change is made last minute. If we were planning for a student to be in-person and then they join the Google Meet as a distance learner, they may not have the supplies that will be needed for the lesson. We ask that you give the teacher advance notice (as much as possible), so we can have materials prepared for your student so they are ready for the day of learning if they can't attend in-in person.
Congratulations to 4th graders Zoe W. and Sethu M. for their excellent performance in the Sonoma County Spelling Bee last week. They both did extremely well and made it to the advanced rounds. This competition consisted of the top spellers from 4th-6th grades around the county, and they did an outstanding job!
We are in the planning stages for 5th Grade Promotion! We will be able to celebrate this awesome class in person this year! I am still finalizing our plan with our district, but our hope is to offer three promotions. The events will be held on Wednesday, May 26th (Bodlovich 8:30, Juarez/Harumi 10:30, Bernal/Pilar 12:30) on the G Wing Grass, but we will also offer a way for students and families to participate virtually. Most likely, each student will be able to bring up to 4 guests from their household to promotion. Each guest will need to pre-register for the event to reserve a ticket, as well as complete a health screening and temperature check. Please stay tuned for the full details once I have final approval. Thank you to our incredible 5th grade teachers for their great ideas to make this day really special for our students... these kids deserve a great send off to middle school!
Warmest regards,
Jen Hansen
Principal
