Why I chose this book
3 things I liked
Since I also play basketball, the basketball theme was very appealing to me and it was something I could relate to throughout the book.
I liked the underdog story plot and while it was a little bit predictable, there were some twists and turns along the way.
3. The Lessons Taught
The main character, Danny, is always being knocked down but he always bounces back and I can relate to that.
2 things I did not like
I didn't like the ending because it left a lot of questions unanswered. Did they go on to win the championship? The book ends after the first round game.
Teddy was the antagonist in this book. He was really someone I did not like. He was always causing trouble when he is mentioned in the book.
I would recommend this to someone who likes basketball or anyone who enjoys sport books
How I connected with the book
I connected with this book because it’s about basketball and I play basketball. I also connected with the book because Danny gets knocked down and has to get back up just like you have to do in real life
Good last read?
This would not be a good last read. While it was good, it wasn't great. It is Part 1 in a 2 Part series, so you wouldn't know what would happen in the next book.
"He didn't make travel team," she said now on the quiet, dark street. "Your travel team."
"Look at him play. How could he not make travel?"
"They told him he was too small." pg. 9
