ELA

My Perspectives Unit 2: How can people and animals relate to each other?

We read, Hachiko: The True Story of a Loyal Dog written my Pamela S. Turner. Students will be writing a story adaptation through the eyes of Hachiko.

Sadlier Unit 2 will begin on Monday, November 20, 2023 with the test on December 1st.

Art Masterpiece will be on December 1st and December 15th.

Math

Math Period 1:

We have learned the first 3 lessons of Chapter 6, all about percent. We took a notebook quiz this week. We will have a quiz over lessons 6.1 to 6.3 on Tuesday 11/28.

Math Periods 2 & 3:

We have learned the first four lessons of Chapter 2, all about percent. We will have a quiz over lessons 2.1 to 2.4 on Tuesday 11/28. The last day to turn in missing assignments was Tues, Nov 21st.

Social Studies

Social Studies:

In social science class we have completed our studies of atoms, molecules, and the weather this quarter. Next we will be starting science projects. These will be completed mostly in class.

We will also begin a unit for social studies on World Religions. This is part of our state's 6th grade social studies curriculum. We will be learning more about the major world religions and sharing traditions and holidays from our many diverse backgrounds. If you are a parent who would like to share your culture's traditions and holidays, please email Mrs. Ski. She would be happy to welcome you into our class to help us all develop a respect and understanding of different cultures.

Science:

In social sciences we've been learning about the 4 states of matter and how matter changes state, (evaporation, condensation, melting, freezing, etc.) Next we will be learning the parts of atoms and the elements of the periodic table. Students have many interesting things in their science notebook, if you have time, check it out!
