DC CPD (IB Workshop) - Teaching Staff

This coming Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 we will be having an IB Collaborative Planning Workshop. We are excited to welcome Bec Clements and Chris Wyatt to DC to run this for us.

Please find below details of the day and please ensure you have completed the 'prior learning tasks' as outlined in the introductory email sent previously.


Diploma Centre

Daily Timings: (please arrive between 8:20 and 8:25am to ensure an 8:30 start)

8:30am - 10:30am - Session One

10:30am - 11:00am - Morning Tea

11:00am - 12:30pm - Session Two

12:30pm - 1:30pm - Lunch (Please note: Lunch is provided)

1:30pm - 3:30pm - Session Three

*These timings are subject to change based on the days progress, however lunch will remain the same.

What to bring:

Prior learning tasks as per previous email.

-DISC reports need to be ready for the first session.

DC CPD - Educational Assistants

Following our EA meeting earlier this month when we identified priorities for this year's professional development, Catherine Jeffes (ESF Teaching and Learning Coach) will be joining us to lead workshops with EAs next Tuesday and Wednesday. Year 5 Shared Space

Workshop Title

Small group reading instruction: using specific approaches and strategies to maximise engagement, avoid distractions and deepen comprehension.

Aims for the Session

To have a deeper understanding of comprehension strategies

To have 5 comprehension routines to use for your next guided reading (GR) session

To be empowered to build positive attitudes through engaging reading sessions

Timings Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30

8:30 – 10:00 Session 1

10:30 – 12:00/12:30 Session 2

1:30 - 3:30 - Classroom preparation - please liaise with your class teachers


Together with your class teacher, please select a set of guided reading books to bring along with you. You should be planning to use these during group reading over the next couple of weeks.

Lunch for CPD days at DC

Thank you to Peter Lasscock for his organisation of lunch for the 2 days.

The menu will be:

29th : Indian theme: Tandoori Chicken, Beef Curry, Vegetarian Dahl and garden salad

30th : Spanish theme - Spanish meatballs, Paprika chicken, Vegetarian Spanish tortilla and garden salad

Chartwels will be open to purchase morning tea and coffee.

The Early Years CPD day is an exciting and engaging day which will include a Keynote and workshops by Ellen Booth Church as well as a series of peer-to-peer workshops celebrating the wealth of excellent Early Years Practice at ESF.


Middle Years event (Year 3 –Year 9)

Empowering Learners: Middle Years Event @ KGV

The middle years CPD day focuses a keynote presentation by Kath Murdoch and peer to peer workshops around the 5 ESF strategic goals:
