Team,
I would like to start off by wishing everyone one a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. My hope is that you all can relax and be with your family and enjoy. This week we have school only on Monday and Tuesday.
Monday: $1 HAT DAY (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
Tuesday: $1 GREEN or ORANGE DAY (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)
In some exciting recent developments, Mr. Brunelle will be hosting an INSTRUMENT DEMO for our students. They will have the opportunity to see the instruments and be given information regarding the rental options. This will take place on December 1st, and more info will come after the assemblies.
I will mention this again below in my reminders, however, we need your help. Please remind your students to bring a pencil, class materials for each class, headphones/ear buds and a fully charged school-issued Chromebook to school each day. I appreciate your anticipated support! In addition, I will be holding assemblies on Tuesday to detail the expectation for hats, hoods and cell phones. Policy reads (page 37):
- Hats, hoods, helmets or anything else that obscures the face or prevents identification of students in person or on security cameras (except as a religious observance or fundraising events)
This continues to be an issue and we all need to be on the same page.
Also, cell phone use during the day has created numerous behavioral and academic issues and as a result, we are letting all students know that cell phones need to be turned off, in lockers or backpacks. If they are seen, they will be taken until end of day. Phone use during academic time is a distraction and their removal from the classroom/hallway will improve social emotional wellbeing and ultimately provide a need boost in student performance. Policy reads (page 37):
- Cellular phones, electronic devices, and any item deemed inappropriate for the educational process are prohibited without teacher and/or Administrative discretion.
If at anytime you need to get in touch with your child, please phone the office at 508-222-6260. If we see phones, we will be sending them to the office and they can pick them up after school.
Emergencies
In emergencies, parents can contact their children through the school office 508-222-6260.
Exceptions
A small number of exceptions will be made. These exceptions will only be available if a mobile phone is essential for a student in:
- managing a health condition
The Mayors food drive has begun!! Please donate non-perishable food items from November 1st to December 3rd!! Our school has been selected to collect for the Murray Unitarian Church. Please #dotherightthing and help support our schools efforts!
We are also looking for gently used cardio equipment for our fitness room. Please reach out to fsouza@attleboroschools.com if you have questions or items that could be donated.
The Word of the MONTH is GRATITUDE...the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Reminders:
- No Routine COVID Testing this week!
- It is the responsibility of our students to bring a pencil, class materials for each class, headphones/ear buds and a fully charged school-issued Chromebook to school each day.
- After Thanksgiving break, no cell phones allowed out during the day.
- No hats and hoods.
