Message from the Principal
Greetings Titans,
I wanted to share some very exciting news. The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) released the list of Distinguished Schools for 2019-2020. I am Titan proud to announce that Elkins Pointe has earned this incredible recognition. This award is a culmination of the hard work from students, teachers, staff, parents, PTSA, and our community partners.
The Distinguished School designation means that Elkins Pointe is among the highest-performing and in the top 5% of Title I Schoolwide schools. The Elkins Pointe CCRPI score of 88.4 and the 5-Star Climate Rating were the metrics used to determine our placement. Our academic goals of Literacy and Mathematics, along with AVID teaching strategies, and active family engagement, significantly contributed to this tremendous accomplishment. Parents, please take a moment to take GADOE Parent Survey; your parent participation is essential.
GADOE Parent Survey: https://gshs.gadoe.org/parents
On Wednesday, December 11th, at 5:30 pm, all students, parents, and families are invited to the Invention Convention STEM Night. Please join us for this joint venture between the PTSA and 6th grade Science teacher, Ms. Adamczyk. There will be 10+ STEM interactive activity stations for students to experiment with Mr. Moffit, our Construction teacher, will be doing a STEM demonstration in the Construction room. The 6th-grade inventions will be on display in the cafeteria. Come to see who wins the top inventors awards and who will win the Tello EDU Drone in the raffle. The Invention Convention STEM Night promises to be the kind event that makes us a 2019-2020 Distinguished School!
Thank you for all that you do!

PJs & Books Delivered!
Dear Staff and Families of our EPMS Community,
Susan Rickson and I wanted to thank ALL who donated books or pajamas to the Pajama Program of Atlanta in our media center. I dropped everything off. Susan Gordon, volunteer coordinator, was overwhelmed with the amount of donations we had from our school. Our holiday community service project collected 24 sets of cozy pajamas, 11 pairs of flannel/fleece pants, 10 sweatshirts, 1 t-shirt, 1 flannel nightgown, 3 book sets, and 24 individual books.
This means that over 46 children will be handed new books along with a new pair of pajamas just in time for the holiday season! You guys are the BEST! Thank you so much for supporting the children through this charity. You can learn more about them here: www.pajamaprogram.org
Thank you,
Jennifer Newman and Susan Rickson

Cotillion - Registration Now Open!
The Bridges/North Atlanta Cotillion is coming January 2020! Registration opened on November 1st. We are excited to start our classes on Sunday, January 5, at The Country Club of Roswell. This is not your Grandmother's cotillion...Have fun with us while learning dance and etiquette!
Seventh Graders will learn basic ballroom dancing and popular dance (Shag, Swing, Free-Style, Line, and Slow), as well as many relevant social and professional skills the students will need to know now and throughout their lives. The Seventh Grade class will culminate in a Parents Showcase displaying the Program as parents observe all their child has learned. Students will also enjoy a 50's Party filled with games, contests, dancing, and pizza!
For Eighth Graders, the classes will review the basics taught in year one, and the students will learn many new dances, including Latin, Swing, and Hustle. An extensive Table Manners segment will further develop your child’s social graces. Dating, interviews and making conversation will also be covered. The Eighth Grade Program will culminate in a Dinner Dance that brings all of the students’ new skills into practice. New students are always welcome in 8th grade.
You can expect your child to gain confidence in our classes, and learn how to greet, shake hands and converse with adults - an all-important skill as the dating years approach. They will also discuss social media etiquette! But most of all, your teen will have fun!

Eventually, the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label.
If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Box Tops are still worth 10¢ each for the school.
