Reminder: Bucket Calf Record Books are Due July 21st!

4-H Clothing Day - July 26

As a reminder, all 4-H Clothing projects will be judged on Friday, July 26. This includes STEAM Clothing 1, STEAM Clothing 2, STEAM Clothing 3, Knitted and Crocheted items, Beyond the Needle, Shopping In Style, Attention Shoppers, Accessories, Quilt Quest and Fashion Show.


The 4-H Clothing Judging Day informational letter, clothing exhibit guidelines, and the judging schedules for fashion show, clothing construction, and quilts were mailed out last week. If you did not receive this information, please contact our office right away.

FAIR ENTRY CARDS READY FOR PICK UP

4-H Exhibit Entry Tags are printed and available for pick up at the Extension Office. This will allow exhibitors to tag their items prior to bringing them to fair, which will make the check-in process much more efficient. Stall cards and back tags for large livestock exhibitors are also available for pick up at any time.

4-H FOODSTAND FREE ITEM TICKET

York County 4-H Council wants to show their appreciation for your commitment to 4-H. Each 4-Her will receive one free item of $2.00 or less from the 4-H Foodstand at the fair. Each 4-Her must pick up their free item ticket from the Extension Office and present it to the cashier at the 4-H Foodstand during fair week. This ticket cannot be used towards credit for larger items and no cash back will be given.


BONUS: If you enrolled in 4-H before the March 15 deadline, you will receive an EXTRA free item card!

Beef Barn set up!

If you would like to get your stalls set up in the beef barn below are the times Tanya will have the barn open before fair officially starts.

July 28th Sunday 2:00-6:30

July 29th Monday 8:30 a.m. -7:00p.m.

July 30th Tuesday 8:00 a.m. -8:00p.m

Wednesday – all day – Remember all animals must be in place by 9:00 p.m.

Home Ec Building Host Schedule

Home Ec Building Exhibitors: Sign up to “host” the Home Ec building by caring for the exhibits on display and share your 4-H story. We ask that there is at least 1 adult or 2 youth over the age of 12 for every shift. You are more than welcome to sign up for more than one shift. The sign-up can be found at the following link. Fashion Show Modeling Practice Sessions

Practice session opportunities will be available at the 4-H Building. Come learn how to model or get in some extra practice before the Fashion Show. Receive one-on-one instruction and feedback to promote success in modeling. These are informal, come and go sessions. Please call the extension office at 402-362-5508 to sign up for one of the following sessions:

4-H & FFA Family Meal

Kick-Off the Fair With Us!


You are invited to a 4-H meal on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the 4-H Building. Families can sit down and eat or grab and go. The meal is provided by our Diamond Level Sponsors: Cornerstone Bank, Henderson Bank, and Western Edge. This is exclusively for 4-H & FFA exhibitors and their families.

4-H Foodstand Sign-Up

If you have not yet signed up to work in the food stand, this is the final call. Starting next week, 4-H Council members will be contacting those who have not signed up. The 4-H Foodstand is a major fundraiser for the York County 4-H Program. The money raised will go directly to York County 4-H'ers through scholarships, workshop, and other learning experiences. It is expected that at least one person from every family works at least one shift! Go to the link below, pick a spot, put in your name(s) and hit submit.

County Fair Shirts Are Here!

Thanks to a generous donation, each enrolled 4-H member (including Clover Kids) will receive one FREE 4-H shirt again this year. Youth and adult sizes are available - no need to pre-order. These t-shirts will be the official show uniform for all 4-H events at county fair.

Shirts are now available for pick at the Extension Office. Additional shirts may be purchased for $5 each during fair week.

4-H'ers Receive FREE Admission to Fair Events

NEW THIS YEAR! All York County 4-H members will receive free admission to the Figure 8 Races and Read Southall Band Concert. Wear your RED, 2019 4-H shirt to gain entry into these events.

Static Exhibit Interview Judging

Static Exhibit Interviewing Judging is OPTIONAL! If a 4-H’er chooses to interview judge, there will be a limit of 2 interview items per project area each day. Interview times are available from 8:30 a.m. to Noon each day. If you would like your exhibits interviewed, stop at the Extension Office to make appointments.


Reminder: All static exhibits must be checked in by 10:00 a.m. each day!

4-H Family Pie Donation

Each 4-H Family is asked to furnish at least one pie (two pies would be even better) for the 4-H Food Stand during the fair. These pies support the 4-H Council Food Stand, which remains the only fundraising activity the York County 4-H Council operates for the year. It is asked that the pies be 9 inches in size and fruit pies, nothing that needs to be refrigerated.

Camper Spots

County Fair camper spots are still available! The cost is $75 per spot. Spots are available the Sunday before the fair through the Sunday of fair. Payment must be received in order to complete your reservation. They are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Call the Extension Office to reserve your spot! 402-362-5508
