Are you in love with T.I.M.?
T.I.M. is just another resource to study. You are professionals. We are expected to stay current with our craft and meet the needs of all learners. The dinosaurs are extinct because they failed to adapt to their environment quick enough. | We are teaching the same core skills. The challenges we face may look differently than those of the past, but the goals are still the same. | Integration is not something new, we are just replacing our old outdated tools for the latest one. What would we look like driving around in the first car ever made. We are required to bring students further and faster than ever before. |

Status Update of Technology Tuesday's
Whoo Hoo! Shout-out to the hardest working staff in the district. Great job for increasing the online intervention use in your classes. Our usage has increased, in some classes we are even at 100%. That makes the difference for many of our students that require different learning styles and repetition. However, we do have some work to do to make sure we are reaching ALL of our students. I want to make sure I am reiterating the expectations that was discussed in November. For the months of December-March we agreed that Tech Tuesday would focus on the online interventions, such as ; Think Through Math, Khan Academy, Istation, MyOn, Accelerated Reader, and STEMscopes. On Tech Tuesday classroom teachers would run reports and discuss with students their progress, while others used the computers in class and all BYOD devices to make sure this was they are using the programs. In PLC’s everyone should have met with Dr. Burroughs to discuss the importance and with your teams to lay out plans and share tips to make this expectation feasible. Specialist advocated to allot Tech Tuesday the designated day so teachers would not be overwhelmed with another demand with no additional time provided. Teachers please make sure all students are utilizing these programs. I am including a few tips shared with me by other teachers to make this a seamless reality in your classrooms.
· Create charts assigning designated days for those students you know don’t have devices cycling them through your classroom computers Monday – Thursday.
· Schedule meetings with your “high priority” students to discuss their progress.
· Set goals for progress and usage.
· Give incentives and ask your supervisor to support your incentives.
· Khan Academy has YouTube Videos. Make sure the teacher may have to log in but, at your discretion. *I would mainly show student how to use the resource and only when I can monitor them closely.
· Use all the computers in your classroom, even the one the teacher is using. (In Alief there is no designated teacher computer, only student computers.)
If you have other ideas or need help, please feel free to ask. If there is a student that needs to be removed from Think Through Math, just email me.

Why Integrate Technology in Your Classroom?
Dojo Is A Hit!
Staff Please make sure we are supporting the behavior system we have in place. All classes should be receiving points. That is the only way, we will have consistency among classes. | Teachers Take the time to sign up and register as your class's parent on the school-wide Class Dojo. This will allow you to talk with your students weekly about their progress. If you need help setting up your phone, let me know. | Class Dojo Stars! Thank you Grajeda, Lopez, and Zanfardino. They are being highlighted because they have 100% parent support for Class Dojo. Dr. Burroughs stated that she has seen a decline in bad behavior from their classes. I even witnessed Ms. Lopez redirect the entire class with minimal words, telling the students they are about to lose a point. Mr. Grajeda receives notifications, sends home pictures of the monthly flyers, and relay STAAR information. This is how Class Dojo is supposed to be used. Stop by and see what is going on and how Dojo is making a difference. The bilingual classes are our most difficult parents to connect with. They want to be apart of the process but, it is difficult to communicate. This is an amazing accomplishment. We are proud of what you are doing to reach all of your students. |
