Picture Retake

Picture retake day will take place on Friday, October 21st. This day will be for students who were unable to take their picture at Open House. Also, if your student took a picture and you would like it retaken, this will be the time for that as well. A form will be coming home soon which will give you more detailed information about our Picture Retake Day.

Parent Information Night

We will be having a Parent Information Night on Thursday, October 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Comedy Sportz will be in the gym to entertain the kids so parents will be able to attend sessions from different grade levels. The idea of this evening is to inform parents about what their child will be learning as well as what can be done at home to help support their child.

Teachers will be doing grade level presentations at 6:00 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. and repeat again from 6:30 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. to allow for parents with multiple children to attend different grade levels. Please keep in mind that these sessions will be presentations and not a drop in like open house. Doors will open at 5:50 p.m. so you can arrive to the appropriate classroom on time.

The Comedy Sportz show will be open to all children that attend Glenwood Elementary. Any other children would need to be accompanied by an adult. A flyer with details and RSVP will be coming home next week.

Star Assessment

Students will have taken the STAR assessment by the end of September. This test is a Universal Screener that helps our staff to identify student strengths and needs. For those of you familiar with MAP, STAR is a more efficient test that replaces it. This fall will be our baseline assessment, and you can expect to see a report in the Spring that will show your child's learning growth over the course of the year.

Please let me me know if you have any questions about this.

After School Youth Sports

After School Youth Sports begin next week. Flag Football for Grades 4 and 5 starts Monday, September 19th at 3:30 p.m. Soccer begins on Tuesday, September 20th with Grades K5 and 1 starting at 3:30 p.m. and Grades 2 and 3 beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Younger siblings or students who start their activities at 4:30 p.m. must be supervised by an adult. Those students must either ride home on the bus and get a ride back to their activity or sign up for the Park and Rec after school care that is available on a one or two day basis.

A flyer with all the details was sent home with your child as well as the “Recreator” magazine. In case you no longer have either of those items, click on this link:
