Yummy in my Tummy
"Obsessed" is in the eye of the beholder. When people are starving, they spend a lot of time thinking about it. Here in america there is plenty of food in America.
In figth grade we learned that as civilizations grow and become successful, most people are well fed(the three sisters). The interest in food declines and people expand their worlds through reading, the arts, entertainment. They Increase their brain power and pay less attention to their stomachs. All of that has changed in recent years. As a nation, we have become more and more obsessed with food.
Obsession means that food is the central focus of nearly all social events. These food-centered events are now a daily occurrence, as no party or get together gets by without a frosted cake.
Obsession means that food occupies a great deal of our time, the recipes, the purchasing, the gourmet shows, the fine dining. IIt means that a bowl of snacks is rarely out of reach.
We love food. Let me share what the typical fifth grader knows about food.
