Note from the Principal
WOW!!! What a Fall semester we had!!! I started this year with the staff by ending all of my emails with, “It is going to be another great year.” This has now been changed to “It is another great year.” And a great year it has definitely been, so far. The Spring will only get better.
I hope everyone had a restful Holiday Break and had a chance to spend time with family and friends to celebrate the season and all that we hold dear. As we say good-bye to 2018, please take a moment to look back on all of the things that have happened in the past year and the growth that has occurred in all of us, but particularly in our children. Don’t forget to enjoy the moments that lie ahead and be thankful for the opportunities the upcoming year is going to bring. I can’t wait to see what 2019 will bring to this wonderful school family and community.
Here's to a great Spring!

Counselor's Corner
Thank you for your contributions to Boone's Annual Food Drive!
Over 500 canned goods were donated to Abiding Love Lutheran's Food Pantry. We were able to help over 70 families in our local area this week. The grade level that donated the most items was 2nd grade! They will celebrate in the spring with a popcorn party and an extra recess.
1st No Place for Hate Activity
Students participated in their first No Place for Hate Activity this semester. We will complete three throughout the school year as part of our designation as a No Place for Hate School.
This activity was was completed during their scheduled counselor lesson time. We read the book, The Colors of Us by Karen Katz. The book celebrates the differences and embraces similarities that connect all people. Students discussed questions, such as "How do we embrace each other’s differences and similarities? How do we make people feel welcome?”
We talked about how we are alike and different from others. As a reflection piece, students discussed about how we might embrace different cultures in the community, as well as foster awareness of our connectedness while honoring our differences.
The students did a beautiful job of creating their own hand to represent themselves as part of our mural project. Be sure to check it out the next time you are near the cafeteria area!
Please see the attachment in the email for information about classes for parents of children with special needs.
