Digital Citizenship in RTSD
Common Sense Media
Overview
Media and technology are at the very center of all our lives today. The media content that our students consume and create has a profound impact on their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Learning how to use media and technology wisely is an essential skill for life and learning in the 21st century. Through direct instruction, Kindergarten-12th grade, students learn how to make safe, smart, and ethical decisions in the digital world. Kids who learn to use digital media wisely can accomplish amazing things — learn new skills, explore new worlds, build new ideas, and change the world.
The following information will give you an overview of the cross-curricular units that are addressed and what you can do to help at home. Our units spiral to address digital literacy and citizenship topics in an age-appropriate way.
