Math:Combinations of 10
- Students will be developing and using strategies for whole number addition and subtraction computations starting with 10 and then moving from 4-9. Focus in this unit will now move to understanding that a number such as 10 is composed of parts such as of 8 and 2, 7 and 3, etc. Students will focus on seeing parts (usually two parts) of numbers 10, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
How many ways can you decompose 10 into two parts?
______ and _____ make 10.
Science: Earth's Surface
Students will use what they know about properties of objects to observe Earth materials (rocks, soil, and water). They will make connections about the many ways that rocks, soil, and water are useful.
We will begin by understanding that rocks, soil and water are naturally occurring resources on Earth. Students will observe the properties of rocks and water and be able to describe, sort, and compare rocks by their physical properties.
