Cheetah Chatter Parent Update
Chapel District Elementary School October 15th-22nd
Thank You for Your Support!
Hello, Chapel Families!
Thank you to all of our Chapel families for supporting our PTO Fall Festival last weekend! We had a wonderful turnout, our families had a blast, and our PTO was able to raise about $6,000. It was a true success and we would like to thank our hard working PTO officers for making this great event happen (Bernadette Golt, Taren Knopp, Katie Callahan, Ashley Foster, Julie Callahan). We appreciate your support!
LifeTouch has rescheduled our picture date for November 8th. If you have already paid online, your order will roll over for the 11/8 picture date. We will send new order forms home closer to Picture Day.
Friday, October 29th is an Early Dismissal day with a 12:20 p.m. dismissal time. That morning we will will have our CDES Halloween Celebration, which will include students dressing up in their costumes and class parties. This will be a students only event, as we are trying to limit the amount of visitors in/out of the school building. Please ensure your child's costume is school appropriate and reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.
We are also beginning to collect Veterans Day pictures for our CDES Veterans Day video! If you have a family member or friend who has served in the military, or who is currently serving, please email your picture to Dr. Clow and Mrs. Leffler (kari.clow@talbotschools.org, aleffler@talbotschools.org) and include the following:
- Veteran's name
- Branch of Military
- Years of Service
- How veteran is related to your child (grandfather, uncle, aunt, mom, dad, cousin, friend, etc.) and your child's name
We will continue to keep you informed of Covid updates. Please see the TCPS link below that shows Covid cases and quarantined students by TCPS school below.
Basically if children show any signs of illness there are three options:
1) Stay home for 10 days, may return with no fever for 24 hours and resolution of symptoms
2) Get tested, return with proof of negative PCR test result and resolution of symptoms
3) See a doctor and get a differential diagnosis/note and have no fever for 24 hours and resolution of symptoms
For future reference, if your child is deemed a close contact, you will receive a text message and email from the school, as well as a quarantine letter from the Talbot County Health Department that outlines the dates of your child's quarantine, information about Covid testing, and a return to school date. You may reach out to our school nurse, Christa Johns, with any questions you may have (christa.johns@talbotschools.org). If your child has to quarantine, work will be provided and your child's teacher will check in/provide office hours as needed. We will continue to use enhanced cleaning procedures and follow TCPS protocols to ensure student and staff safety.
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kari M. Clow
CDES Principal
