Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society: Baron Stiegel Chapter
The purpose of Rho Kappa is to recognize excellence in the study of the social sciences and encourage interest and growth in the field. In 2011, Manheim Central became the first school in Lancaster County to offer membership in the Rho Kappa Honor Society. In order to join, students must take three credits of social studies and achieve a GPA of 3.75 or higher in those courses. During the summer of their senior year, Rho Kappa members must complete 15 hours of community service in a social studies related field. Since the formation of our chapter, our students have logged hundreds of volunteer service hours at such places as the Lancaster County Historical Society, the Ephrata Cloister, Mount Gretna Area History Society, and the University of Pennsylvania. Rho Kappa is led by Dr. Robert Kreider and Richard DeStefano.
