Every curriculum unit for our core content subject areas are based on our Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or TEKS that the State of Texas requires all schools to teach students. These standards outline the major focus of our lessons and activities. 7th Grade Math - 7th Grade will examine similar figures and scale drawings. Students will use proportions to find the value of missing dimensions of similar figures (7.5c). Students will work on 3-D geometry with volume of rectangular and triangular prisms and pyramids

7th Grade ELA - For the next 4 weeks the students will practice all the components of crafting an expository essay. This week they will focus on developing ideas and effectively writing conclusions.

7th Grade Texas History (U.S. History Unit)
7th Grade - Students will be engaged in activities that focus on the era of industrialization and reform in U.S. History. Students will be preparing for DCA 3.

8th Grade Math
8th Grade Math - Students will continue to focus on transformations, specifically, dilations (8.3c). Students will discover how a figure is affected when the scale factor is between 0 and 1 and when the scale factor is greater than 1. Students will begin the personal financial literacy unit.

Algebra - Algebra Students will start Unit 11 Quadratic Equations. Students will identify key features of quadratic functions such as the vertex, y-intercept, x-intercept, axis of symmetry, minimum and maximum (A.6a, A.7a). Students will also explore how to solve quadratic equations using factoring (A.8a).
