Principal's Message
Does your child sing, dance or juggle? Do they have a card trick to awe us with? A violin solo they want to share? A gymnastics routine that will encourage us to leap out of our chairs? I am so excited to announce that we are bringing back Hallinan's got Talent this year! Please refer to the directions listed below. We can't wait to see what your children do!
Speaking of talented, look at the amazing greeting we were welcomed with this week! Thank you for showering our staff with flowers, cards and treats for Staff Appreciation Week. We are so grateful for everything you do for us, for Hallinan and for the community (check out the Food Drive results under the PTO Information section below)! You are AWESOME!
There's no place like Hallinan! We have fabulous students, wonderful teachers and staff, an incredible PTO and supportive families. We are better together! I am grateful to be part of this outstanding community and at this beautiful school. By the way, if you'd like a quick tour of the improvements at Hallinan, there is a link below under "Take a Look at Hallinan".
Enjoy the rest of the week!

Please Verify Your Student's Information
Beginning April 30, LOSD needs parents/guardians of all students enrolled for the 2021-22 school year to log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. This benefits both families and schools by: Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
Your Intentions for Next School Year?
LOSD is planning for in-person five full days a week for the 2021-22 school year.
As part of that plan, LOSD is exploring offering an online-only program for students who choose to remain fully remote for the 2021-22 school year. This offering will be different than LO Online. Next year's online program model will be dependent on interest in being remote.
State Testing Notification
Oregon school districts are required to administer state assessments this spring in English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science. The Oregon Department of Education’s request to waive these assessments due to the pandemic was denied by the federal government. However, a revised waiver has been conditionally approved to require fewer assessments at each grade level this year, per the below schedule. In addition, the ELA and math assessments have been shortened and will take less time to complete this year.
- Grade 3: ELA
- Grade 4: Math
- Grade 5: Science
- Grade 6: ELA
- Grade 7: ELA and Math
- Grade 8: Math and Science
- Grade 11: ELA and Math
- ELA and/or math (grades 3, 4, 6–8 and 11): submit the state opt-out form to your child’s school. The form is available on the State Assessments page of the District website.
- Science (grades 5 and 8 only): submit a written request for exemption to your child’s school (email or US mail).
