The South Western Sydney ICT consultancy team have planned a wide variety of workshops that integrate ICT as a core capability in the Learning across the Curriculum areas. This will be delivered through practical workshops, video conferences and Adobe Connect sessions. Please be AWARE, these workshops on offer this term may be the last opportunity to experience these rich professional learning opportunities with ICT prepared by our fantastic team.

These webinars provide the opportunity for all educators at any stage of their career to discover how colleagues are integrating ICT into the PDHPE curriculum to enhance outcomes for students in teaching, learning and assessment. Enhancing Learning through the integration of Tablet Technology (iPads)
Miller Mon/Tue 4th and 5th November
This two-day course will equip participants to authentically integrate the use of iPad tablets in the teaching and learning cycle. Participants will have an opportunity to independently explore and evaluate a range of apps for education. The course will cover the pedagogy, logistics, management and effective usage of iPads to achieve learning outcomes.

Creating Digital & Multimodal Texts
Wednesday 6th November and Thursday 7th November
This two-day course will equip participants to authentically use digital tools and multimodal texts to engage learners. Participants will have an opportunity to plan their units of learning. The course will cover the pedagogy and the effective integration of ICT using the technology already available in their school. Participants will create engaging learning resources and draw on digital tools to promote student literacy learning.

Computational Thinking in the Classroom 4-8 Using Scratch2.0
Tuesday 12 November
This workshop will introduce teachers to Scratch 2.0, a free graphical programming language developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab. It is an online programming tool for 8-16 year olds that enables students to create stories, animations, games and more. In this workshop, participants will become familiar with computer programming concepts and learn how scratch links with Literacy and Numeracy.

EOI - Promoting your School Project
Thursday 14th November and Thursday 21st November
This two-day course will give teachers and students the skills in creating a website and using other online tools to promote student work and school achievements. Schools can decide whether they will use this time to completely overhaul their existing school website or use the ICT skills to transform teaching and learning in their school environment.

Transforming teaching in English using Tablet Technology (iPads) K-10

Tablet technologies have the potential to truly transform the way we interact with the world around us. Significant impacts of tablets include providing ease of access, enabling individualised learning, facilitating enhanced communication, and making learning mobile. So how do you foster transformative learning with tablet devices in the English KLA? It begins with the educator serving as a role model by demonstrating a willingness to learn and change.

Google Collaboration Tools to Enhance Team Efficiency and Productivity
Tuesday 19th November
This one-day workshop is an introduction to free Google tools available soon through our staff portal. Principals and Executive Teachers will use Google Drive to create, collaborate, store and share documents and presentations; Google forms to create forms to send to staff or students (with the replies being sent straight to a spreadsheet) and Google sites to share information. You will examine feedback strategies using Google documents and gain confidence in the use of these tools to enhance team efficiency and productivity.

Integrating ICT in the new Mathematics Syllabus 7-10
Wednesday 4th Dec & Thursday 5th Dec
This two-day course will equip participants to authentically integrate the ICT capability of the new Mathematics syllabus. Participants will have an opportunity to plan their Mathematics units of work for the start of 2014. The course will cover the pedagogy and the effective integration of ICT using the technology already available in their school. Participants will create engaging learning resources that covers all the capabilities.

SWS Techstars Student Challenge
The challengse provides an opportunity for students in the New South Wales Public Education system to showcase their creativity and innovative use of technology embedded in their learning. At the start of each term, students will be allocated an open ended mini task integrating the use of ICT to complete and submit by the end of term for judging. We look forward to your students registering and enjoying the challenges set for them in 2013!
The final challenge of the year will embed the concept of ‘Stop Motion Animation’.
