Literacy/Reading
This week we began research and planning for the historical fiction story your child is going to be writing.
The goal is to have their stories finished next week. Parents WE NEED YOU to check their rough draft (breathe...they haven't written them yet).
Math
This week in math we are beginning our work on multiplying fractions. We are starting with multiplying a whole number times a fraction, then a fraction times a fraction and finally a fraction times a mixed number. Once again multiplication tables are needed for success. If your child doesn't know their facts, please work with them. There will be a brief quiz on multiplying fractions on Friday, March 3.
The tests for adding and subtracting fractions went home today. If your child is doing corrections, they are due on Friday.
Science
Last week in Science we wrapped up our unit on weather. We also learned lots of information about severe weather as students began presenting their Weather Projects.
This week, we took our Unit Test on Weather. The unit study guide came home and was discussed in class. Our next unit will be on Ecosystems as we learn about living and nonliving things and how they interact to create a delicate balance here on Earth.
