Counseling In the Middle
Ritenour Middle School - 8th Grade
It's a New Year!
Monthly, I will be coming to your teams classrooms to provide a school counseling core curriculum lesson. This year lessons will be focused on students building life skills and making connections to their learning while having a career and college focus. Lessons will align with the Missouri School Counseling Standards and will be an approximate 30-45 minutes of length. I have identified dates for each team. Please decide as a team where I will be teaching the lesson. Also, if there is a time and topic that you would like me to come and teach to your class, feel free to schedule a time with me.
Additionally, I will be leading Lunch Bunch during 8th Grade lunches on Friday's. The purpose of the Lunch Bunch is to build connections while focusing on students academic progress as they also connect with other students. If you know a student that might benefit, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Together, we will identify a handful of male students to participate in a small group book study. These students will be reading the book, "The Other Wes Moore, One Name, Two Fates."
I have an open door policy for students and teachers. There will be a number of students that I will meet with weekly. Depending on students needs, I will often make a referral for more intensive counseling to one of our partner agencies.
My door is always open to you! I am usually an early riser and will often stay late. Feel free to pop down to my office to talk or if you might need a break!
Let's make this a great year!

Additionally, you can also find plans for any student that has a 504 or FBA at this drive too. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
