From the Principal
We had our last Site Council meeting of the school year last night. I want to thank our members for serving on our Site Council and providing input, feedback and support as it relates to our school goals and initiatives. The agenda with links to past agendas and principal's report is linked below.
Amy Le-Chair
Annie Myers-Co-chair
Camille Wheeler-Secretary
Sarah Lynch-Chaput-Member
Heather Flachsbarth-Member
Shannon Kimball-Board Member
As part of our Site Council I did explain that due to budget reductions and ultimately a reduction in classroom teacher FTE, we will have at least three multiage classrooms next school year. We are only at the very beginning stages of learning about multi-age classrooms. So no final decisions have been made regarding which grade levels will combine to make a multi-age classroom, etc.
Our 3rd-5th grade scholars will complete state assessments next week. They have math left to complete. We are so proud of how focused they have been and of all the great effort hey have put forth!
We are excited to meet some of our class of 2035 scholars today at kindergarten orientation. We have two more sessions on April 27th. If you know of anyone who will have a kindergarten scholar next year please have them call the school to sign up for a session.
Just a reminder we do not have school tomorrow or Friday, but we are in session on Monday, April 18th.
As always it is an honor to serve as the Principal of Sunflower Elementary.

From Sunflower PTO:
Landscape Clean-Up!
It’s time to make the entryway and roundabout at Sunflower beautiful! Please join us on Sunday 4/24 from 2-4 pm for a landscape clean-up session. We will provide yard waste bags. This is a great outdoor family activity and a wonderful way to help our school.
Board Positions
Over the last few months, we have communicated board openings for the Vice President and Secretary positions. We have had two candidates come forward. Please visit our Facebook page to read the candidate bios. There will be a vote to fill the two positions at our in-person May PTO meeting, Tuesday 5/3, at 6 pm in the Library.
Volunteer Positions
We have a Committee Chair position open for the Scholastic Book Fair. Tara Fagan has successfully overseen the Book Fair for many years but will be stepping away next year. This could also be a Co-Chair position. If you LOVE the book fair and are interested in heading up this committee, please email sunflowerelementarypto@gmail.com and we can discuss the position.
**Follow our Sunflower PTO Facebook page. We post a lot of information and events on our page.
