The Coyote Howl
Campo Verde High School
September 4, 2020
We are so excited to finally be welcoming our students (M-Z) back on Tuesday the 8th and then students (A-L) on Thursday the 10th on the hybrid schedule. With this opportunity to open schools to in-person instruction comes tremendous responsibility that we all own.
In preparation for Tuesday, in addition to each teacher’s requested classroom supplies, please bring:
Face covering (required)- if a student forgets their mask or does not have one they should go directly to the office to get a free mask
Charged Chromebook and charger
Daily Student Health Assessment: Before attending campus each day your student must complete a student health assessment. Please view the assessment here. Please remember students who are sick or feeling any COVID like symptoms should not attend or be on campus. For more information including health resources and information please visit www.gilbertschools.net/healthservices.
Passing Periods: To limit students in the hallways we have extended the passing period to 10 minutes. Students will go directly to their next class. Signs will be posted in all applicable areas to guide staff and students about where to enter/exit. Directional arrows and signage will be utilized in all of the hallways.
Restrooms: We will be limiting the number of students allowed in each restroom at one time to four students. Other students should wait in the hallway and remain socially distanced. Occupancy signs will be posted on the bathroom door.
Lunches: Tables will be limited to half capacity. Students will have options to eat inside the cafeteria, outside under a shade structure or in the library. Cafeteria tables will be sanitized between lunches. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option through December 31,2020 allowing Nutrition Services Departments throughout the nation to continue serving breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost (including offering curbside pick up for global and community children.) What this means is that our district will start providing free meals to all students starting today. This includes breakfast and lunch.
Arrival and Dismissal:
Arrival: Students will be allowed on campus at 7:00 am. Students will have the opportunity to grab breakfast and then go straight to their classrooms. Teachers will be in their classrooms starting at 7:00 am.
SWEEP will NOT be in affect. Parents do not need to sign in students late. Please just drop them off at the front office for a pass.
For late start students please just report to your class. You do not need to check in at attendance unless you're late for your class.
Dismissal: Dismissal is at 2:15 pm. and students must leave campus immediately.
Bus Routes: GPS District is delighted to be introducing a new tool for our families to find their student’s bus stop and route information. The Versatrans eLink tool is now live and updated with bus stops and routes for this school year. Please go through Infinite Campus and click on the Find Bus icon.
Parking Passes: If you have purchased a parking pass please remember to fill out the Parking Rules and Regulations sheet and turn it into Mrs. King in the book store to pick up your parking pass.
Classroom doors will be propped open in between each class period to prevent students from touching the door handles.
Teachers will dismiss by rows/small groups so not all students are congregated in the back of the room trying to leave
Hand sanitizer will be kept by the door.
Multiple sanitation stations will be available in hallways, primarily by the exits.
Security staff will be equipped with disinfectant and will be spraying door handles and other high-touch surfaces throughout the day.
Students will also be allowed to bring in clorox wipes for personal use if they would like to wipe down their desk prior to sitting.
Locker rooms will be disinfected multiple times throughout the day.
Visitors & Volunteers: Limited visitors and volunteers on campus at this time. Any visitors must have admin approval.
Acknowledgment Form - PLEASE READ AND ACKNOWLEDGE: Please complete the acknowledgment form included at the link below confirming your understanding of the COVID - 19 pandemic. Please complete this form for each of your students attending school in-person - COVID~19 Acknowledgement and Disclosure Form.
Annual Update Reminder: In order to ensure that we can communicate with families regarding their student, or in case of an emergency, it is essential that families keep their emergency contact information up to date in their Infinite Campus account. If you have not filled out the Annual Update, please do so as soon as possible. It is important that every family log into Infinite Campus and complete the Annual Update to ensure we have accurate information for your student. Even if you believe there are no changes to your student’s information, please login and complete the process, so that we may verify your update. Annual Update Instructions are included here for your reference.
School Maps: Attached is a copy of our school map so your child can start thinking about where their classrooms are located. Staff will be in the courtyard in the morning to help students find their classrooms and help with their schedules. There is also a traffic flow map to follow when dropping students off in the mornings.
Again, we all play an important role in the successful opening of our schools and I want to remind you that we are stronger together. Wear your mask, wash your hands, and stay home when you're sick!
