Happy Summer Vacation
Happy Summer Vacation!
How we all wish you were here with us today as we celebrate our final all school liturgy and our wrap up in our classrooms. We cannot express how we would so much rather be embracing your smiles in person instead of virtually.
Wow! Cheers to our 8th Grade Graduates! What an amazing graduation! The Class of 2020 will never forget their unique end of grammar school! We wish our graduates the best and cannot wait to see where their lives will take them.
And, our Kindergarten students also were able to celebrate in a special celebration on Monday evening. Thank you to all of the faculty and staff who helped to make both of these events amazing for our children.
We say good bye to two members of our community as they retire. Mrs. Hoffmann and Mrs. Lannan are leaving us as employees, but, we know we will see their smiles through the halls of St. Damian on occasion. We really cannot put into words all of their gifts, but, we did try:
We also say goodbye to Mrs. Vandervelde who has been working and securing all of our lunches for many years. She has done a wonderful job and we will miss her.
Since, we have been away, we have learned so so much. It is our hope that next year, our technology will be one step ahead of the rest. We are looking into funding and many programs so that we may continue to provide blended classroom opportunities to our students. Just a few of the new opportunities that you will see; all will be using the Google Classroom as a way to communicate with our families. We think you will be pleased at the consistency of this program. We will also continue to use IXL at many grade levels and IReady at all of our grade levels. Your teachers have learned so many innovative new approaches to education and will look forward to using those in our classrooms.
We will also be spending time this summer in order to ensure safety for our students upon the return in August. It is our sincerest hopes that we will return to our building in August, but, this is also beyond our control as we will need to follow guidelines put forth by the state of Illinois. Please know that we are keeping you abreast of all information as we receive it.
Have a wonderful summer! See you in August!
Cheers to our 8th Grade Graduates!

Tragedy Among Us
George Floyd’s murder is truly tragic and heartbreaking. Our faith compels us to seek justice in the face of systemic racism and inequity. As a faculty and staff, we are looking at resources as we are dedicated to providing a safe and peaceful environment for all.In the wake of the disruption in our city and suburbs, the following resources may be helpful to you.
