The 6th graders are currently studying Ancient Greece in Social Studies. We just completed a project where the 6th graders chose a Greek God/Goddess and researched their background. They then took that information and made a fake Facebook page (on Google Drawings) that reflected their God/Goddess’ personality. They had a lot of fun finding out who their God was friends with, who was in their family tree, and the myths they appeared in. Ask your child to see their Facebook page, they are pretty proud of them!
Driver Education
Driver Education is offered at Knoxville High School through Triple ‘R’ Driving School. There will be two summer sessions offered:
- The 1st summer session will begin Monday, June 3rd and conclude on Saturday, June 15th. This session will include classroom hours every day (Mon-Fri) for three hours (8-11am).
- The 2nd summer session will begin Monday, July 22nd and conclude on Saturday, August 3rd. This session will include classroom hours every day (Mon-Fri) for three hours (8-11am).
Registration forms are available HERE, in the high school office, or can be accessed from the website www.rumpsroadrules.com. Mr. Grimm & Ms. Bolton will be the instructors for this course.
Families who wish to enroll their student should complete the registration form and return the bottom portion to the high school or middle school office, or mail the registration form to the address listed on the form.
For those families who qualify for free or reduced tuition, please indicate that on the bottom of the registration form you turn it (write “free” or “reduced” on form). As a reminder, in order to receive the free and reduced benefit, students must take drivers education through the school affiliated provider (Triple ‘R’).

Northstar Guidance
Fourth and fifth grade students got to head outside for some springtime yoga. Students played yoga show or tell where they got to lead their classmates in various spring related yoga poses.
Third graders are finishing up learning all about emotions and cool down strategies. Some of the strategies they got to practice were coloring, using their senses, exercise, stress ball squeezes, and deep breathing. One of the breathing exercises they used was rainbow breath. Have them show you how to do it! They finished by watching the movie Inside Out.
5th Grade Science
In science, we got the opportunity to go outside and plant some vegetables in our school garden. Each student received the opportunity to contribute in some way during the planting process by prepping the soil, digging trophs, planting the seeds, watering the seeds, and making labels to show where each different vegetable was planted. During this time each student also got the opportunity to share their past gardening experiences as well as learn how to read a seed package in order to learn how to properly plant an assortment of vegetables. Finally, they observed seeds of many different vegetables and drew them to understand that seeds can differ from one another. The students loved this gardening lesson and we can’t wait to taste our vegetables at the end of the school year!
