Jesse James , was born on September 5,1847 in Clay County Missouri. Jesse had one brother named Frank. Their dad was a minister and a farmer. Jesse decided to be an outlaw when his house got attacked during the Civil war because he wanted slaves. During the Civil War Jesse and his brother joined the Bushwhackers. The bushwhackers were a gang that fought with the Union. In 1866, he formed a gang called the James gang. There were also 12 members in the gang. Cole younger was one of the members of the James gang.The James brothers hid in Tennessee.

He believed people had the right to keep slaves. That’s when his brother and he joined the confederates to fight to keep slaves. On September 7, 1876 the James gang robbed a bank in Minnesota. Everyone except Jesse and Frank were caught.Everyone else went to jail for life. In one of his robberies he took the track of the railroad to rob a moving train! Jesse was dusting a painting when Bob ford part of Jesse’s gang shot him in the back of the head to claim $5,000.

When Jesse was born there was a lot of things going on like the gold rush and the Civil War. But he was very daring. He even joined the Civil War when he was 16. On some of his robberies he almost got killed many other of the people in his gang was killed or sent to jail for life.Jesse was also very cruel. He shot many people during his robberies and stole tons of gold and money from banks. Jesse also was very brave. He wasn’t scared to get caught during his robberies. He also joined the confederates to fight in the Civil War.
