Principal's Update

Specials Teachers Moving Back to Classrooms

Hilton specials teachers started the year teaching music and art in homeroom classes. This plan was adopted as part of our BAS Covid Safety Protocols. Beginning Monday, February 8th, Art and Music instruction will return to Ms. Houghton's music room and Mr. Walker's art room. This is a district-wide move that was approved after confirming safety protocols for cleaning and the transition of students. Mr. Griest and PE have been in the gym and multi-purpose room since the start of the year.

Monday, February 1st - Professional Development for Staff (No School for Students)

On Monday morning, Hilton teachers will collaborate with grade level and district elementary staff to share strategies to enhance online learning, engage in dialogue about subject area essential learning, and discuss ideas to improve math and reading support during WIN/RtI.

The afternoon will be spent in breakout sessions with topics ranging from social-emotional support strategies for students, technology in-service for new smart boards and advanced coaching in the use of online learning tools utilized in the classroom. i.e. Lexia, IXL Math and Newsela.

Kindergarten Round-Up

If you or anyone you know have children starting JK or Kindergarten next year, registration opens on February 1st. It's always a challenge to reach families that don't have children in the system, as we don't have means to notify them. Please share this information so we can get everyone registered as soon as possible. All the information is available on the district website. More details, including the link to the website can be found further down in this newsletter.

Have a great weekend,

Jeff Eisele

Winter is Here!

Please remember to send your child to school in snow gear!

We go out for recess unless the temperature is below zero. With temperatures getting colder, it is important for students to have heavy gloves and hats for arrival, dismissal and recess.

Counselor Corner!

Happy New Year from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. Fox! I hope you had a well rested, and memory filled, time with your loved ones. For the month of January we are taking time to further acknowledge and support that extra added stress this crazy year has brought us. We are diving into mindfulness, yoga, and other practices, that treat the mind, body, and soul. The goal of these lessons is to promote self-regulation and self-reflection in our young learners, as well as to practice a sense of peace and calm during our days.

Lets Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed at school.

More Resources: The Elementary Counseling Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!
