PANTHER PROGRESS
October 2022 Issue 2
MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION - PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Lincoln Family -
Though we recognize that October is an unusual month with numerous days off throughout, we are extremely excited to hold our parent teacher conferences on October 12th - October 14th. Your child's teacher will be contacting you to schedule a conference time to meet. Even though you are receiving a "Lincoln Learner Report" on a weekly-basis from your child's classroom teacher, these conferences are an opportUNITY to connect with the classroom teacher to discuss your child's progress compared to their grade level expectations. Highlighting areas that could use extra support at home and celebrating the SMALL WINS with the growth that your child has made since the beginning of the year are the key goals of this conference. Remember that our Lincoln staff is here to serve, while also dependent on your ongoing efforts to support at home. Ongoing communication is a must. We look forward to seeing you on October 12th-14th!
Together.
Much Lincoln Love!
Eric Rhodes - Principal
Mary Beth Smith - Assistant Principal

Instructing students, staff, and families about the role of the brain in learning in order to increase student independence and academic stamina

SCHOOL SAFETY
We want to share FCPS' weapon policy: "It is unlawful for students to possess or use any weapon on school property. Students who have or use a weapon on school property will be suspended from school, and the police will be notified of the incident. A weapon is an object designed to harm another physically or an object which is used in a way that can physically harm another. Lincoln ES is committed to providing each of you with a safe environment and we will do all we can to carry out that responsibility, if necessary, conducting searches of student lockers."

FREE AND REDUCED MEALS
Please make sure you are filling out the Free and Reduced Meal (FARM) benefit application to determine if your student qualifies for free or reduced lunch. As a Title I school, we rely on these applications for funding from the federal government. The state of Maryland will no longer be offering free meals to all students this school year. The online application is the preferred method of submission and applications in both English and Spanish. The online application can be found at this website: FCPS Food and Nutrition site. For those that do not qualify, the cost of lunch is $2.65 everyday. If you have questions, or need assistance filling out the application, contact Amy Nelson at Amy.Nelson@fcps.org or Crosby Blair at Crosby.Blair@fcps.org.
*You can add money to your child's lunch account using My School Bucks! which allows students to purchase meals and/or snacks.
